Goldfinger - Connery's third film. Considered to be his best portrayal as 007

Thunderball - Connery's fourth film. Highest grossing Connery film

The Spy Who Loved Me - Moore's third film. Considered to be Moore's best performance

Moonraker - Moore's fourth film. Highest grossing Moore film

The World Is Not Enough - Brosnan's third film. Brosnan's most well rounded performance.

Die Another Day - Brosnan's fourth film. Brosnan's highest grossing Bond film

Hmmmm, take note Daniel Craig. Stick around for four!

Um...let me explain.

Yes, Connery's third film (Goldfinger) is indeed considered his best. And, yes, Thunderball is indeed his highest grossing Bond film. But...GUESS WHAT...Thunderball also happens to be the highest grossing Bond film EVER. Yes thats right! If you count inflation it is indeed #1. It's even the 26th highest grossing film of ALL-TIME: http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/adjusted.htm

You know why? Because of Bond mania.

As for Moonraker and Die Another Day...we don't know if they are ACTUALLY the highest grossing film. We may have to see what inflation tells us. I mean, GoldenEye was released in 1995 and DAD in 2002. You'd be surprised how much ticket prices went up in 7 years.

Also, we don't know how Craig's series will turn out. I mean, look at Connery and Moore. Most would agree that third time was a charm for them. Goldfinger and The Spy Who Loved Me are known as the best for each. Yet, third time was not a charm for Brosnan. Not a charm AT ALL.

The fact that Thunderball is the highest grossing Bond film of all time (when you adjust for inflation) is common knowledge. Ticket prices are always a factor. The only reason Casino Royale beat Die Another Day in first day ticket sales in the UK was because ticket sales had increased from 2002 to 2006.

My point was, each Bond actor to have starred in four or more films usually fell under the same pattern. Their third film showcased the actor in full stride, with a strong grasp of the character and confident as ever in the role. Their strong performances in their (respective) third film lead to the fourth film becoming the highest grossing film of their tenure.

I guess you do make a good point. Although I'm not sure if Moonraker and DAD are in fact the highest grossing film. Thunderball is 100% fact. It was #1 in 1965 and is #1 in 2006.

I'm gonna have to disagree here. I don't see what everyone's problem with TWINE is. I see it as one of the more interesting Bond movies. The only weak link in the movie was trying to believe Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist. I wouldn't say it's Pierce best performance out of his movies, but I see it as his second best.

I think GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies are Brosnan's best films. TWINE was entertaining but didn't live up to the first two IMO. And, DAD...well...that was a mess.

I consider The World Is Not Enough Brosnan 2 best bond film.I agree Die Another Day was a bit of a mess
