"According to a source close to Pierce Brosnan, the former James Bond actor felt affronted by the performance of Daniel Craig in the latest Bond film, Casino Royale. "Pierce just felt that he should have carried his gun in such a way that people knew it was James Bond they were dealing with, and not some 'first-year Bobby who doesn't know the first difference between an Aston Martin that transforms into a snowmobile and one that turns into a submarine,'" said the source, who added that Brosnan said the Bond girl bedded by Craig may have appeared attracted to him, but he could tell she was faking it. "Pierce felt the performance was amateur and that in general the film lacked a certain je ne sais quoi." Former Bond actor Roger Moore reportedly agreed with Brosnan's assessment and added that, while he was glad to see someone other than Timothy Dalton in the role, no actor has brought the pithy elegance befitting 007 since 1979's Moonraker."

Yeah, I'm suprised there are still people left in the world who don't know that yet.

:whatever:

When someone posts a story from the Onion, you don't say, "The Onion is fake, you know," you wait for those who don't know to react in shock.

We don't want to give the CnB people anything to have hope about, even if it's false hope.

It would be hysterical to see one of them say, "Look, even Pierce agrees with me!"

You never know. Pierce was fired. So, I'm sure he secretly hates Daniel Craig and is now laughing that Die Another Day made more money.

But Casino Royale has recieved far better reviews, and all those claims that, "Craig is the best since Connery/Craig is back to the real tough guy-type Bond" are hardly likely to please Mr Brosnan.

That is true, Kev. But, I think Brosnan knows what I know. Which is that Casino Royale will be killed on television. It is destined to become the next OHMSS. Personally, I didn't have a problem with the film's length but I do acknowledge future generations will probably not sit through this film. It is bad enough that 90-minute Bond films get stretched into 3 hours on basic cable and network television. Can you imagine how long Casino Royale will be? All you have to do is look at OHMSS television length.

Craig's next film will truly be the one to make him a favorite or not. I mean, look at Timothy Dalton. Fans loved him back in 1987. But, where is he now? Exactly!

So Craig better make sure his next film is awesome!

I don't think it matters.

This is the age of DVD's, and network airing just isn't very important I think. Hell, Casino Royale is a film where it might be pretty edited for basic cable. The Torture scene will be heavily edited, I think.....and probably the staircase killings too.

And Casino Royale was 144 minutes.....Goldeneye was 130 minutes, and Goldeneye gets played still.

But, I don't think network airing matters anymore. By the time it airs on basic cable or network television, enough people will already own it on DVD or seen it on IN DEMAND or HBO, Showtime or whatever cable channel picks it up.

Btw, I heard Brosnan was totally cool with Craig. They've spoken a couple occassions, I read. Craig said he's spoken to Pierce and he's given him nothing but support.

I don't think Pierce would hold any hatred for Craig.......Brosnan must know, if he didn't before, that the role doesn't actually belong to anyone. It's a mantle that gets passed on, a torch.....so I cannot see how he could hate Craig. I mean, I guess one could maybe say that Connery could hate ALL of the other 007 actors. Maybe Dalton hates Brosnan? Maybe Moore hates Connery?

Don't think it matters anyway. I do think Brosnan must hate the company though. He's wanted to make a 007 film LIKE Casino Royale for a number of years. Casino Royale is really the Bond film he wanted to make, a film that holds weight and does some new and creative stuff. The studio didn't want to do that when Pierce was around, and then when they do want to do it.....they don't want him around. That has to bother him. But, taking it out on Craig seems more than ignorant if he did.

That's not what I meant. I said future generations. I'm talking about 10 years from now. I mean, seriously, how many people actually discover Bond films from their Dad's movie collection? I think we've all discovered Bond from watching the Bond marathons on television.

And, GoldenEye really doesn't get aired as much as the others. Next to OHMSS and Never Say Never Again its probably the film with the least air time.

Just look at Spike TV's current Thanksgiving Bond marathon. It's airing Die Another Day a total of three times. Yet no GoldenEye as part of the marathon!

I never said Brosnan hated Craig. I said he probably "secretly hated" him. If you were fired from a job wouldn't you secretly hate your replacement.

It will be funny if they all secretly hate each other. lol. :woot:

Honestly...I would not be surprised. It's no secret that Sean Connery doesn't really like these people. So, I guess we can add Pierce Brosnan to the list.

In the case of OHMSS, ABC's 1976 cut of the film probably did more harm to that film than anything Craig haters could have said to curb interest in Casino Royale.

It wasn't until VHS and DVD that Bond fans and critics started calling OHMSS the best Bond film ever.

You are absolutely right. I'm sure he hates Daniel Craig and I know deep down inside, he is still bitter. Now that I think about it, I posted a clip in my 'Casino Royale' Teaser, Theatrical, Podcasts, TV Spots... thread of Pierce acting like a jackass.

If Craig ever sees this...

I could barely hear what he said but I guess he was mocking Daniel Craig.

The reporter asked Brosnan if he heard the news about Daniel Craig's front teeth being knocked out. The rumor that we got during filming.

Pierce laughs hysterically and responds, "I actually heard it this morning."

The interview ends with him pretending to be "toothless" and uttering the words, "My name is Bond, James Bond."

I see. Well, a lot has changed since then.

I think he thought it was funny. Not sure if he hates the guy. I think he is bitter with EON and their...bitter divorce. But I think he probably will be as ambivalent as Connery was since then.

Also, where has Connery openly said he hates all other Bond actors though?

Connery does not hate the other Bond actors. Connery hates EON. He even sued Cubby back in the `80s. And, the biggest insult was not attending Cubby's funeral in `96. All the other Bond actors were there, however. I'm sure you can find that pic of the guys posing together at Cubby's funeral.

Well, I discovered Bond through the videogame.....then rented all the movies.

But, it's a new world. Considering there's so many other ways, I imagine someone could be introduced to Bond through the tv movies.....but then go ahead and check the rest out through Netflix or something.....yeah, 10 years down the road still. And, the reason I say that is b/c there are so many Bond films to catch. 22 is a large number, and there are only so many one can see in a single day.

The Thanksgiving marathon kinda sucks though. They're not playing them in order, and I haven't Dr. No and From Russia with Love is still waiting to get played, tomorrow I think. And, I'm surprised they've played DAD as much as they have. TND, TWINE and GE are both missing.

Although, I think USA might have the rights to GE......Ive seen them play it a few times a few months ago.

I never said Brosnan hated Craig. I said he probably "secretly hated" him. If you were fired from a job wouldn't you secretly hate your replacement.

I don't think so. I'd probably hate the dude that fired me.

I just think that Brosnan probably can't hate Craig, b/c it's not Craig's fault. I think when any actor signs up for the role, it's kinda a given they you will be replaced eventually. And, Brosnan being friendly with Craig kinda points that he probably has no resentment. Brosnan could have easily pulled on Craig what Don Johnson pulled on Colin Farrell when Colin kept calling him for advice, and Don never called back (lol...as if DJ is a busy man or something..)

It will be funny if they all secretly hate each other. lol. :woot:

lol...yeah.....but I kinda hope they all like eachother. Although, I think there's got to be som hatred somewhere. Lazenby and Connery maybe? lol.

Honestly...I would not be surprised. It's no secret that Sean Connery doesn't really like these people. So, I guess we can add Pierce Brosnan to the list.

Really??

I thought Connery was cool with Pierce, and Moore. I just thought in many ways, Connery was trying to distance himself from the 007 franchise once he hung up his PPK forever.

The reporter asked Brosnan if he heard the news about Daniel Craig's front teeth being knocked out. The rumor that we got during filming.

Pierce laughs hysterically and responds, "I actually heard it this morning."

Well.....that was a while ago. lol....still kinda funny, though. Especially considering that Craig didn't lose any teeth.....lol.

And really, looking at the fight scenes.....I would not have been surprised if he had. I mean, those fight scenes were intense, more intense than any of the Brosnan fight scenes I think. Just violent, gritty, brawler stuff.
