An Original Justice League

Batman and Superman CAN be an advantage, under the right circumstances.

They might not have been as useful as they could have been this time due to negative reaction to BVS. A year after BVS might have been the one time in the last fifty years that having Superman and Batman hurts a films box office rather than helping it.

One the other hand, it could be argued WB not including Superman in a lot of the marketing hurt the film. The film might have had an even worse box office if Superman and Batman were not in it.
I still maintain that the DCU's biggest problem is trying to play catchup to Marvel's then 7 or 8 years of movies, in 2 movies.

The next problem is they didn't make the characters representative of their comic counterparts, and just bad writing.

you got it backwards Marvel makes their characters unrepresentative of their characters' comic counterparts. It's Zack who sticks to the comics representation and gets yelled at for not understanding the character.

Both companies take liberties but the MCU has the better over all track record. Zack's cast would have been more liked if Zack was more faithful there lol
