Do you think with "The Dark Knight: Rises" we will see a surge of interest in Bane and possibly get an animated straight to DVD Knightfall? I know they are making a bunch of animated straight to DVD stuff at the moment and they did make a BBC audio version of Knightfall which was great.

Also check out this fan trailer, it's pretty awsome.

I would love a Knightfall, but there's too much to squeeze into a 75 minutes show.

I don't think they could pull it off. As Cobblepot says, too much to fit in one movie without cutting corners and pretty much destroying the story.

I would LOVE a Knightfall DTV animated movie, and I for one, thought the three graphic novels were rather cluttered and could easily be trimmed down to 75 minutes.

It's one of my favorite Batman stories of all time, and the concept is absolutely brilliant... but secondary sub-plots and additional stories prevent it from being what I believe could've been the best graphic novel ever written.

- Batman
- Bane
- Azrael / Batman (Jean-Paul Valley)
- Nightwing
- Robin (Tim Drake)

Stick to those five characters, and everything else isn't needed.

The BASIC story is about Bane arriving in Gotham, breaking Batman's back, forcing him to let Jean-Paul become Batman while Bruce recuperates and re-trains from a wheelchair.

- Nightwing and Robin work with Jean-Paul and realize he's nuts.
- Jean-Paul defeats Bane.
- Bruce re-trains with Lady Shiva.
- Jean-Paul becomes Azrael.
- Bruce comes back to fight Azrael in the final confrontation.

That's all you need. Easily 75 minutes if written correctly.

The first 10 minutes could be a montage of Bane releasing Arkham's inmates and showing how exhausted Batman is from re-capturing every Rogues Gallery villain.

Whilst I agree you in the main I'm not sure a montage would really do it justice, I mean for one I think the whole bit with Zsasz could be something really special. Secondly the parts that always stuck with me were the short panels where he himself admits he's struggling against someone like the Cavalier, I just feel a montage wouldn't be enough to show the depths Batman has to go to. I know it's been talked about to death on here but for me the Knightfall saga would work really well in a format like HBO's Spawn.

Do it multiple parts like they're doing in Dark Knight Returns

Knightfall as in all the way up to when Azrael beats Bane, because that is a huuuuge story?

Aye, I've got a copy of the BBC radio adaptation, which was pretty good, they crammed it in quite well, but, y'know, no way could they do it that way for a toon. With the audio play it was not quite so jarring flipping so sudedenly from scene to scene as it would be with an animated feature, cause you know, it flipped all the time, it having so much to cram.

I did sit there thinking about all the bits from BTAS and the movies i could edit into matching up with the audio play though, just to see if it could be done, might do that one day.

But...if we ever get another 'serious' Batman animated series, it would be much better to see it done over the course of a season, that would be truly amazing. That was the one weakness of BTAS, it did not have that ongoing storyline hook that most regular comics have, they should defo go that way with any new Batman tv show.
they talked awhile ago about doing a CG one right? i don't know what happened with that.

I think they'd have to bite the bullet, and do it in volumes. Like the books. Make Knightfall into a trilogy, like the books.

And I wonder if they'd want to alter the means by which Bruce came back. I know, for example, they changed the whole multiverse-Superboy wall punch that brought back Jason, when they animated Under the Red Hood.

But, it'd be great to see them try and pull it off.

It was already done on The Batman episode Traction... JK :)
