Another New Clip

If anything, it was probably a moment where Bay asked the Latin actor, Amaury Nolasco, to ad lib and that's what he came up with. From what I hear Bay did a lot of that in this movie. Amaury was also in Prison Break as Fernando Sucre and did a lot of that kind of ad libbing. So I would think if anyone is to blame it'd be him.

I watched prison break too. I liked him in it. I already tried to explain that spanglish is not the same as what he does in this clip, which is awkward and makes no sense. And besides, in Prison Break he plays a convict... an idiot. Just like the other cast of idiots like the child molester southerner.

And IF he did do it (suggest to Michael Bay).... that's when the director says "nah, man. you mutha ***ers don't really do that do you? I mean seriously... have you NOT watched Hollywood Shuffle?"

Next time an asian character who speaks perfect english in the part breaks out into "hochichoochi po fwi wiice pwease" and then switches back to perfect english as right-as-rain in a similar scene, gimme a call.

but the guy had a hispanic accent when he was speaking English....it's not as if his accent was like Tyrese or Josh Duhamel's. you might not be doing it on purpose, but it SEEMS like you're picking it apart so you can add another "negative" to the list of what's "wrong" with this movie.

I think Josh Duhamel's awkward line reading makes this scene more uncomfortable than Amaury Nolasco's line reading. I'm not saying it's REALLY uncomfortable. I'm talking teeny tiny on an uncomfortable scale. I'm Colombian and I'm not finding this scene insulting at all. I honestly breezed over it until this much attention was brought to it. I rewatched it and I still am not insulted.

the problem with the scene is that it all seems so artificial and cliche. Why does every movie with military guys in it have to show them sitting around talking about mundane crap and being pricks to each other. Is that what it's like in the military? You just talk about gumbo and shrimp?

Well the only time I truly believe the actors have captured true military grunt speak is when they're talking about women...

I have a few buddies who are in the Marines. About the being pricks to each other, it's to boost moral and basically have fun. Now days so many people are sensitive they don't see **** talking back and forth with your buddies as being fun or comical. Most people start whining and complaining about the insults instead of joining in and dishing them back out.

still sucks nuts that bay didn't at least try to avoid the cliche. show them talking about mother****ing military tactics and ****. I hope after that little sentimental momma's cooking banter they get back to business.

I agree, some of the scenes sound like the kind of scenes that were in ID4 between Will Smith and Harry Connick(sp?) Jr. Unecesarry for the most part. :csad:

everyone should just speak english and then there will be no problems. you wont have to have these stupid arguments if it were like that because then there wouldnt be anything to argue about

what the hell? more languages you speak, more hot women you can talk to with sexy accents... nothing wrong with that...

Not trying to pick it apart or inflate it. Like I said, it's only a WTF? because I read the original dialog in the leaked script. It's disheartening... had it been the intention all along I would have been "OK." I just wonder why they did it.

BTW, the guy doesn't really have a hispanic accent... not in that scene. That's a regular ol New York accent. It's obvious he speaks English perfectly and has no problem with it. Chic on "Without a Trace" (she's Puerto Rican off the boat), THAT's an accent. What's funny is that I just read the actor's bio, which says that after moving to New York he "trained at the American British Dramatic Arts School." Hollywood Shuffle, indeed (whoever hasn't seen that movie really should).

Anyhooo.... yeah, it's not a big huge deal. And like someone pointed out maybe it was the actor's idea (see Hollywood Shuffle, folks). Common Hollywood stuff. It IS an idiotically-stereotypingly scene. Could it be worse? Sure.

P.S. Ima start riting in messd up tween New Yorican Text message slang n thro in spanish while Im at it wooordzzz! n see ho long I last b4 u muthas flame me.

In interviews with both Shia and Megan, they both state that Michael Bay likes to let actors do improv with their lines if he feels they have their characters down. For all we know, the actor could have been improving instead of following the script word for word.

not with a movie this big and this important.

At least it has a sense of humor. that should make it more bearable than all these other flicks and even war of the worlds that try waaaaaaaaaaay too hard to be deep and life changing stuff.

I find that the movies that do succeed at changing lives and managing to be deep are the most simple. Star Wars for example, compared to the more artsy movies is a popcorn kiddie movie. But look at what depth was able to come out of it by using one's imagination to dream of all the fascinating things the force can do, what does obi mean by "I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine." Pure bliss back in teh good ol days before jar jar.

and another example is the matrix. keeps it simple. The sequels try to become the next bible and look at how ****ty they are. That's why i'm not so keen on what the negatrons want when they say they want transformers to be taken seriously and be hardcore deep philosophical sci fi and stuff. That's not always great.
