Another New Clip

Eh? what was stupid?

I don't understand that comment either. Great vid. Just how I imagined the scene while reading it.

Couple of days old.Though I don't think it was posted here- I go to siebertron every day.

I like the bumble bee airefreshener.

That was painful to watch. I'm going to bring my iPod and play music during those scenes.

I thought it was pretty funny actually. Even though he's got that Disney stigma, I really like Shia LeBeau (or however you spell his name). He's got good comedic timing, and is a likable actor. I hope he's good in the new Indiana Jones movie.

Both those clips were good.

Never thought I would be saying this but I'm done watching these clips. I should have said that weeks ago. I just hope there are scenes I didnt see yet when I actually pay to see the movie.

Yeah, I'm not one to judge a movie based on one clip. take any spielberg movie, take one moment from it like that and put it online and it'll seem just as ******ed, but having said that, doesn't make that clip with teh soldiers any less ******ed. I hope they just went through hell and this scene plays out as a bit of relief after the fact or it'll be seen as a piss poor attempt to make give the soldiers some charming qualities which bay completely failed at in pearl.

WTF??? Holy freakin s**t that was stupid. Stuff like this sticks in my craw. I'm Puerto Rican- pretty much cousins of Dominicans for those that don't know- (my stepfather was Dominican). I hate it when movies do s**t like this.

Anyway, I see they kept the Dominican raised in the Louisana Bayou (really?) from the leaked script. My question is: WTF did Orci/Kurtzman do to John Roger's script? Make it worse???

Here's the original dialog from the leaked script:
Lennox: Tell me, first thing you're gonna do when we get back...
Figueroa: Lil' taste o' home -- plate of mama's hot pasteles. Ham, onion, garlic, and BAM, some adobo spiced pork!? I'm on my way to nirvana.

THAT's freakin human beings non-stereotype talking. It's perfect.

P.S.
I don't remember, does this guy die in the script or what?

this just screams predator to me.

Maybe this kind of stuff works in that movie, but it seems too corny today...

Actually it's the only time we get to know them really, from there on they're running for their lives.

The soldier clipe was pretty dull but the Sam and Mekalea clip was funny.

Yeah, REAAAAAAAAL painful!:whatever: :o ..... Why the **** is that painful to watch!??? Get over your self... It's not like they're dancing tango at a freaken jazz-club, OR getting married during a big battle where pirates are trying to cut off their ****ing heads left from right! They're just TALKING, what's the big deal??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I dunno about Boiiingg, but it's REAAAAAAL painful to me. Stereotyping freakin bulllshrit they love to put in for no reason..... to make us look stupid. Classic Bafoonary.

Judging by the old leaked script (which had the same scene less stereotypingly played out but conveying the same info--- see previous post) the writers actually sat down and said "how can we make this scene even more more ignorantly ******ed? oh I know..."

what was so 'stereotypical' about that?

i've got a few friends who were foreign exchange students from columbia, and they do that (slip into speaking spanish) all the time, even after having lived in america for the better part of the last 10 years. and every time i have to tell them, "uh... hey, man... i don't abla, remember?"

and how does it make "you" look stupid? do you not speak spanish? at least they're being fair, they've got the nerdy white kid, the spanish speaking spanish guy, and the 'ebonics' speaking black guys. you act like you're being singled out. cry me a river, huh?

1) The character in the scene clearly speaks English perfectly. Yes, even around other people, foreign language folks [of all kinds] slip into their language when talking with each other OR when they're having trouble conveying an idea in English OR when they're talking to themselves. That is not the case here. He's doing it simply to be an a**hole.

2) Yes, many of us use "Spanglish"... Sprinkle words. Use expressions. I do. "cojelo con take it easy." NOBODY does it the way he does in that scene. Nobody. ........
I don't know just 2 Dominicans and Puerto Ricans (the character in the movie is suppossed to be Dominican). I know a slew. Both in college, educated, off the boat, from the Island, and from all over the place. I have never met one that does this the way its done in that scene. Never.

And if he did... it'd be just as bad as:

3) Ebonics. Ebonics is not an accent or even using street slang. I have not seen one scene in the clips where Anthony Edwards is speaking "ebonics." In fact, you'll probably never see it in a movie (I'm hardpressed to think of one, right now) because if you did- in a blockbuster movie like this- you can bet it'd be contraversial and you can bet YOU'd recognize the horrible and racist stereotyping.

Dude I don't usually disagree with you or argue, but man your really blowing this whole thing way out of paportion. More or less just looking for any thing now to complain about. I mean unless you think the writers and MB put that scene in to piss you off personaly? Get over yourself and stop complaining for once, the movie is out in less then a week...5 days and counting.

then If your still pissed off at the movie and hate it, come here and complain to the skys and dirt and what ever else you want.

And I usually dont let stuff like that bother me. You get used to it after a while. I understand that it's just the way some people see us and choose to portray us. Over time, things change. It's not usually a big deal to me....

But, what pissed me off is that I read the original scene in the leaked script... and it was intentionally changed for the worse! It's kinda of an eye-opener.

oh gosh, it's not as if they thought "it sounds too good in the script. we're going to make it worse!"

asians get stereotyped ALL the time in movies and i never get bent out of shape about it. if anything, i'm more pissed that i haven't seen any asians in the movie...

oh gosh, it's not as if they thought "it sounds too good in the script. we're going to make it worse!"

That's exactly what it seems they thought... because I think the original dialog in the leaked script was just fine:
Lennox: Tell me, first thing you're gonna do when we get back...
Figueroa: Lil' taste o' home -- plate of mama's hot pasteles. Ham, onion, garlic, and BAM, some adobo spiced pork!? I'm on my way to nirvana.

Someone literally had to say... OK, how do we spick this up?

asians get stereotyped ALL the time in movies and i never get bent out of shape about it. if anything, i'm more pissed that i haven't seen any asians in the movie...

Next time an asian character who speaks perfect english in the part breaks out into "hochichoochi po fwi wiice pwease" and then switches back to perfect english as right-as-rain in a similar scene, gimme a call. I'm not talking about Pat Morita playing a foreigner... I'm talking about him doing it straight up as if Asians who speak perfect English do it all the time.
