    Happy Easter, Guest!

Another Reason why Activision Sucks

Oh god, if they make CoD pay to play, WoW style, I will laugh my f**king ass off. The sad thing is, people are stupid enough to do it too.

They're going to do it.

You know they are. I'm sure it'll start out with just "Gold" tier exclusives, maps, features, and perks...and pretty soon, before you know it...you'll need to pay just to get your foot in the door.

I'm not sure how far they'll go with it, but I'm sure it'll happen at some point.

And sadly, them doing it will be completely justified by the fact that many many many will willingly jump right in to play it, no matter what they charge.

It's sad really.

Yeah, it is.

I'm a little hopeful about it, because perhaps it could further drive a stick between the single-player and the multiplayer?

If they're essentially going to make the multiplayer into a paying experience, maybe we'll end up getting a more single player focused game next time out?

Oh ****, who am I kidding...that probably won't happen.

It would be a ****** thing to do. But if there is people out there who are willing to pay, then well, can you really blame Activision? They are in the business of making money first and foremost.

Activision already took down the videos, but now that you can import Band Hero into GH5, you can make Johnny Cash or Kurt Cobain sing Taylor Swift and Village People songs.

****ing aye.

****ing Johnny Cash would have crashed his car into an Activision exec office for this. Or because he was hammered, either or really.

I would have thought after the Cobain hoopla, Activision would have patched this to avoid avatars of (atleast) dead singers to stay in they're own songs.

Well, at some point Activision will get stuck in the hole they've been digging for years, might as well let them continue digging.

It seems like you cannot pick the unlocked artists in GH5 for the career mode, though, or am I missing something? Btw, I still haven't unlock Cobain, but I have with Shirley Manson and Muse.

Oh, and having Cobain and Cash singing Taylor Swift song is...can't describe it, but I'm sure both are spinning in their respective graves right now.

I don't think you can pick them for career mode, but you can definitely pick them in quick play.

Also, I think this is probably the place to say that Tony Hawk: Ride looks like probably the worst Tony Hawk game ever made. And with competitors for that title like Tony Hawks Downhill Jam and American Wasteland, that's really saying something. No wonder they sent it out to die by only giving critics 20 minutes on a Saturday afternoon to come test it for reviews.

If I were Tony Hawk, I'd find a clause that lets me get out of the contract so I can sign with other company; Activision just doesn't give a damn right now.

Giant Bomb gave Tony Hawk Ride 1 star. The only other games they've given that low to are terrible vaporware games like GI Joe Rise of Cobra and DSI Funny Face Express.

Activision never even officially announced the price for Ride. IGN finally could make the rumors official when they bought it for review.

Activision suing EA.

The nasty lawsuits between Call of Duty publisher Activision and the ousted lead creators of that hit series got nastier today with accusations that the president of rival EA was instrumental in trying to "hijack" the Call of Duty developers.

And there's more mud being slung. Activision also says the makers of Modern Warfare gleefully sabotaged the sister studio behind this year's Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Activision spelled this out in a legal filing today through which they intend to add Medal of Honor and Battlefield publisher EA — their Coke-vs-Pepsi rival — to their lawsuit against Jason West and Vince Zampella, the founders of original CoD studio Infinity Ward. West and Zampella were fired by Activision in March for alleged acts of insubordination, just months after the studio the men founded finished and released the huge hit Modern Warfare 2.

West and Zampella sued Activison last spring. Activision had sued them back. (Read a summary of the Call of Duty Legal Warfare that has ensued up until now.)

Activision now wants at least $400 million from EA and has described a series of clandestine efforts by EA to woo West and Zampella away.

In its filing today, Activision also has spelled out what it says were acts by West and Zampella to hurt Treyarch, the Activision-owned studio that just released the mammoth Call of Duty: Black Ops.
