Any ideas for a Batman game?
Heres mine:
BATMAN: The Word's Greatest Detective

Systems: 360, PS3

Players: 1 to 2

Playable Characters: Batman, Nightwing, The Joker, Two-Face, Killer Croc, Scarecrow, Baine

Campaign 1: Batman must save Gotham City after The Joker releases the inmates of Arkahm Asylum in an attempt to prove he is the greatest criminal in Gotham.

Campaign 2: Unlocked after beating campaign 1.Play as The Joker, Two-Face, Killer Croc, Scarecrow, or Baine as you take advantage of your release from Arkahm and reek havoc in Gotham City

Gameplay: A GTA/Assassins Creed/Spiderman 2 free-roaming style game. All of Gotham City is available for you. Meet with Commissioner Gordon to get the scoop on the crime in Gotham. Interrogate the scums of Gotham to get the info Batman needs. The game highlights Batman's Detective skills, while still having loads of action. Use all of Batman’s gadgets and vehicles to defeat the forces of evil. Stop random crimes like Spiderman 2.
In the villain's campaign, Instead of stopping crimes, you create them. Destroy the corrupt lawyers of Gotham as Two-face. Feed in the sewers as Killer Croc, and reek all havoc for no reason more than to piss off Batman as the Joker. Like Batman, you will have weapons to uses. Not Bruce Wayne’s "wonderful toys" but others. Joker has his gun that shoots the Bam flag into people, and his zapper to shake people’s hands with. He will also have the ordinary knife and gun. Two-face, likewise, will use ordinary weapons, while Scarecrow uses his fear gas. Villains don't interrogate people. They torture them to get what they want (or in The Joker's case, they torture them for the sake of torturing them).

Unlocks: Campaign 2, different playable characters, multiple suits for the playable characters, multiple Batmobiles and bat-vehicles(wanna see TDKR Batman on the batpod? Yeah!), The Dark Knight Returns mini-campaign(4 levels of TDKR awesomeness.

The Suits: Unlock suits from different ages of the comics( 1st appearance Batman, ex.) movie/ Tv suits( Batman '89, BTAS Batman ex.). Also includes suits for the villains( Jack Joker, Ledger Joker, BTAS Joker)

What do you think? Anyone have any ideas for a Batman Game?

Kinda like the Grand Theft Auto series but as Batman.

have access to all the gadgets, suits and cars from all eras in both comics and film so you can "customize" your Batman.

Be able to to work out and learn fighting skills, etc like in GTA San Andreas.

following along with the GTA type of game it needs to have a little Splinter Cell in it and the puzzles should be as hard as the Myst games. He's a detective right? that's gotta be in there.

and back to being able to customize it, what you do in the game determines what your "Batman" will be. Will you play him like Adam West and help old ladies across the street or will you play it like Bale and drop people off 2nd floor ledges? The choice is yours!:brucebat::woot:

There has to be crime happening all the time and you have to stop pick pockets from time to time to keep your "street cred" up:woot:

I for sure want to be able to drive the 60s Batmobile every now and then and put on the gear from those old serials back in the early days or put on the bat nipples if I feel like it.

and like the GTA games have radio stations, in this one you would have all of the soundtracks from all the eras.

gotta have all kinds of "toys" in there. He has to have access to Police scanners and he needs to figure out how to access police computers without getting caught.

-need to also have it so what you do in the game affects how the rest of it unfolds. kinda like that old game (forgive the spelling) Das Eux..?
Say Batman finds a clue but doesn't tell Gordon (you get dialogue options when you talk to people) if Gordon doesn't know about the clue then he might not be able to relate it to something else

Gordon "you said you found (whatever). Well we have this other clue that is connected to THAT" which leads to a discovery of something else. If Batman doesn't tell him that then maybe he spins his wheels searching or whatever.. make sense?

(Insert cool title here)

Campaign: You are batman, and you stop madness in gotham city.

In the beginning of the game, the police are after you, because they don't know who/what you are yet. Everytime you help someone, or put someone evil like the joker in jail, your reputation with the police and the city go up. If you damage alot of stuff, then your reputation will go down. For example, If you are driving around with the tumbler, running people over, and smashing police cars, people will scream when they see you, and if the police see you, then they will shoot at you and try to arrest you. However if you stop a group of gang members from mugging someone, then you will get +reputation with gotham. And if you get a certain amount of reputation, you can go to lucious fox to upgrade your batsuit and get different moves and improve moves that you already have. It should have just as good free roam as GTA 4.

I thought a MMU was in the works for both DC and another for Marvel...but to go with your idea making it like a GTAIV would be cool...would like to see an online feature added with either playable heros or villians, 2 on 2, 4 on 4 Good vs Evil...make your own thug or vigilante (CFB style)...one could hope. The BB game was like Splinter Cell lite but still bearable to play.

Couple thoughts from a prior thread:

Model on Assassin’s Creed – I’ve only played Assassin’s Creed once, and very briefly. But during that time, I appreciated the game’s open-ended, Z-axis intensive cityscapes, the fluid, graceful character movement and emphasis on stealth tactics, and the terrific graphical detail. Immediately I said, “This game is cool… wouldn’t it be cool if this were a Batman game?”

It’s easy to picture Assassin’s Creed as an engine and game approach updated to represent Gotham city, to include Batman instead of a white Mid-East assassin, with a range of technologies to assist the character in negotiating the environments, but keeping the same up-close quality versus the graphical “panoramic mediocrity” of games like GTA or Saints Row.

Flexible Suiting – As a gameplay element, I would love to see Batman’s suit engage the player in a range of choices that impact attributes and abilities (like armor and speed) and lend to various play styles (heavy versus blend versus a light Batman).

The history of Batman’s suits is one of the most fan-loved aspects of the character. I’d be thrilled to see a game utilize this variety not just as a nod to fandom, but as a gameplay mechanic to boot. As you begin the game, much like Batman Begins, there are obvious gear and aesthetic choices to make. Early on, choices are limited by available technologies and perhaps contacts in-game. Then, as the game progresses, Batman and his allies have the ability to innovate and open new possibilities for suiting that have implications on how Batman operates. In this way, the suit enables a progressive element in-game, and also allows the player to tailor his equipment to preferred play style.

Some areas where Batman’s suit could be customized with gameplay implications include body armor material (weight = Batman’s speed/agility, material = durability/resistance to various types of damage), coloring (black, gray, blue style options dictate camouflage efficacy in different environments like city/rural, day/night), cape (small = increased agility, medium = useful cover, large = good flight surface for gliding), cowl (flexible = better peripheral vision/head turn rate, rigid = armored but reduced head mobility), imbedded sensors (big ears = amplified hearing, white eyes = always-on night vision/infrared). I’m sure there’s a lot more to customize, as well!

I think it would be a lot of fun if the suit was also a modular design that allowed the player to swap components to customize operational attributes. Expecting a big fight against armed opponents? Best use the heavy-armor. Need to infiltrate an enemy hideout and escape from high atop a building? Light armor with dark coloring and the flight-capable cape. I’m sure most people would find their go-to styles for both suits and gameplay, but I always like options, and in a game where You Are Batman, this sort of customizability would enhance immersion for an otherwise static (but awesome) character.

Evolving Characters – I’m a huge proponent of evolving relationships in video games, where like in Fable your character’s actions have a lasting impact on the game world. One of the interesting themes in Batman is the character’s ambiguous relationships with his world and the characters who populate it. Because of what Batman does, he is sometimes seen as a hero, a villain, an inspiration, or a nut. And it depends on which character you ask, right?

The opportunity here is to allow the player to impact who Batman is in the world of Gotham based on player choices. If Batman insists on brutalizing Gothamites left and right, he’s going to earn a reputation with the police as a thug and raise the ire of the police. If Batman is effective in working with the police to reduce drug shipments into Gotham, perhaps with the help of Lieutenant Gordon, then the police will look leniently on his activities. Same goes for relationships with the press, civilians, organized crime and petty crooks… all should be malleable in their impressions of Batman. Do something particularly ridiculous and maybe even Superman will fly to Metropolis to “have a word” with Batman at the behest of the President…

Gotham as Sandbox – I see an open-ended Batman game as being much like an RPG in these respects, giving the player the latitude to explore an interesting Gotham while customizing his experience and utilizing all of Batman’s tools (including reputation) to execute his war on crime. Envisioning here a very open-ended and adaptable player experience, I think Batman fans would get a kick out of this.
