Whats your ideal Batman Video game? What elements, style, direction, characters would you have in it? What system would you perfer it on? Anything you want, just say it!

Mine would be a 1 player free roam game with a giant Gotham City. It would be based off of Batman Begins, and follow from the first to the third movie (ninja training included). I would want it to be released after/during the third film. It would have all major Rogues gallery spliced in to fill in the gaps between the movies.

The tumbler would only stay where you parked it, but it would be marked on a map. Run over too many people in the tumbler, or get caught by te popo, your over.

Random event would happen, it would have 100s of side missions as extras, such as a tumbler time trials, gliding courses, huge fights, times where you are Bruce Wayne...

The story would go like this:
You start off in the prison, and have a fighting tutorial.
Ninja story would be quick too, then once you are gotham, you would talk to lucius, get the fake suit, and after about a half hour of recommended game play, you would be Batman.
Then you get the tumbler, after about an hour. Go through the whole first movie arc.
There would be a Max Payne style scene after scarecrow gases Batman and he is out for two days.
Riddler or Egg head would make an appearance after Begins.
Then the second movie.
Then some more stuff, like a Bane or Scarecrow run,
Then the third film,
After that a Hush/ and that story similar to that.
End it with a grand joker finale.

Some where in that there would be parts were you would play as the villians and go through their origin That doesnt work for all villians, but it would for like Joker (the killing joke) and scarecrow post begins would be cool too. Another part you would play as Gordon. Also you could unlock stuff like costumes, and even graphic styles, (Jim Lee, Tim Sale, Neil Adams, Alex Ross, to name a few...)

The game would be designed to allow you to do the missions at your own pace, and some villians can make random surprise appearances, so that you need to stay on your toes. It wont be like the Hulk or the Spider-Man 2 video game, more like GTA San Andreas, with Metal Gear mixed in. It would be reccomended for PS3 and the graphics would be incredible.

This game would be the ultimate Batman with no limits, (unlimited) story.

You have just described my dream batman game which EA will never have the balls to make.

Man this game is awesome, but you forgot to mention the use of the bat-signal.

here we go again, ill post my ideas i guess...

A free roaming next gen batman game would put ANY GTA to shame if it were done right, you would CONTROL batman, and YOU could use stealth, it doesn’t have to be scripted, have a stealth or shadow meter, and you actually BEING batman, you would need to keep an eye out on the night sky for a batsignal, then rush over there via grapple or batmobile. just think of the possibilities of what batman is, he is human, but has all the great toys, using the batgrapple MUCH like the spider web in spiderman 2, will be unbelievable FUN! because hes a regular guy, and YOU get to control him(if done right) another topic would be that CAPE, it could be controlled, held up around you for helping your stealth

The graphics on the cape would make it look like a gigantic piece of cloth or whatever...think ALEX ROSS painting and how big and billowing that cape can be, and how beautiful it could look in a game...if you can imagine gliding up above rooftops with a GIGANTIC billowing cape
BEUTIFUL REAL graphics (much like Batman begins but having less animated character movements(more real).

batman.jpg

Running along rooftops in alleyways, just LISTENING....you hear a girl scream, there wouldn’t be any pop ups or anything even, it would be ALL your control, gotham in your hands as batman....you rush to the girl in need, on the rooftops above you observe....trying to think of a way to ef this guy up messin with this lady....you throw a batarang at a window, fence or some random thing, and he runs for it....BUT he has the purse, you jump down, look at the lady and see if she is alright, she says yes, then backup to the rooftops(the criminal couldn’t have gotten far) you jump across roofs and you see a man runnning is fastest, thats gotta be him...you stalk him atop the rooftops until he finally stops...maybe at his apartment, you could either just waait it out and smash through a window, or take him out right then and there.....now there would be OTHER ways of going about catching him, hell you could of snatched him right up from that alley way! THAT is how a petty crime should go down, there would be MANY MANY different scenario's, much like spiderman 2 but WIDER and WAY more involving...and everything is NON-LINEAR..how EVERYbody likes it especially me!

Now SOMEbody needs to get this done...it could be game of the year, or game of the decade, who knows!!! and im REALLY thinking it should be done on PS3. and other next gen systems, that way the graphics will look outSTANDING while having a GIGANTIC gotham to free roam with an outstanding amount of replay ability, almost never ending if DONE right......

We need to start a petition, because everyone has got all these FANTASTIC ideas in there head. Imagine just you in the gigantic batcave, you could use the computer ANYtime....you could have a costume vault with an array of past costumes and new ones, different variations, you could actually PICK what gadgets and weapons batman can take out that night, endless amounts of possibilities....ENDLESS even more so than Spiderman.
Be able to actually gain clues, FIGURE out crimes USE your head! and the computer would help tremendously!

BAM

The time system in the game would be REAL time, it would take however long it takes before the sun raises, then report back to Wayne manor, get some sleep to pass time, or even handle Wayne enterprise business as serious mini games.... but once night rolls its head around, you can have the choice to take a breather....hey there could be a health bar, along with an intensity bar, and stamina bar. that may perfect your anger and performance upon criminals. you can go down to the cave via any secret entrance there is or could be in the game, you can go in the vault, go into a mode for batman suits, like colors (black grey, Blue gray, all black, yellow oval etc) you have an array of utility belts, pouched, capsule....you can have the choice, your preparing to be batman as realistically as it GETS, even pop a Tylenol before heading out! He would show wear

That’s the level of realism i want! and the game would be terribly LOOOONG, much like batman and robin for PS1, the game developers COULD have the choice to put a bigger plot into the fold maybe, or have it develop later on DEPENDING ON WHICH PATH YOU MAKE and how you EFFECT Gotham!!!!

more to come....

it can get alot better, im sayin a free roaming comic-book style game with movie costumes available IN it, the ULTIMATE batman game.....Batman:Legends lol. wouldn’t it be cool to play Robin batgirl and nightwing too? ah yess, there’s an idea, like i said earlier about choosing your pathway through your life as Batman, there could be like four unpredictable games, each pathway with a villain behind the story, and a sidekick story, say you end up with Robin, and nightwing and batgirl are off away...doing...something, lol, there would be an interesting story concerning robin, and say the main villain behind that story would be...uh...lets say Riddler. i don’t know how to describe it any better then that at the moment, but hopefully ya get my idea. look at it like the WWE games, how the story mode works on that, or the choose your own adventure books, your decisions affect the game drastically, but there’s never a "game over" Hey if Tim gets killed by the joker or whoever, it will be the players fault, for either not being there or making the wrong move, just as if it were real.

That is only a dream concept, because yea I love Batman’s allies, and would love to play as them, or at there side. But scratching that idea is fine. Name it Batman:year one, there could be your story and VARIOUS sequels to come, Batman year 2, or some crap like that..maybe not.

I cant really think of that much as good as i thought last night, i was pumped last night, lol. Maybe YOU guys would like to express your thoughts on something?

But something I love in Batman and Robin PS1 was that there were crimes you had to race to, If you were late, you could scower the area for left over CLUES, and if you were EARLY, before the robber or villian got there, you had the chance to foil or protect the store/place from him. You would have the Police headquarters marked on your map, you could stop by Gordon’s office ANYtime, just liek the animated series, and get info on what MAY be happening, or who is out on the loose to watch out for. Heh, you could even have the choice, when gordon looks away, to hurry up out the window, standing on the ledge of the building you would here him whisper "how...what....." or "why does he always do that!" or something. Little touches like that can make the game special in the hearts of many.

Back to what i mentioned about getting to a crime scene early, you collected clues from the previous crime from this guy/super villain you need to bust, so you arrive early at the proposed jewelry shop(for example). THIS is where the stealth comes in BIG time, you must think, you have MANY gadgets, look out for trip wires, and investigate the place, see what they are after. You could stake out for a couple minutes, or how ever it takes you hear someone in the other room, he comes in to scope the place out, you snatch him up in the darkness, nobody sees you.....you pick off your enemies ONE by ONE, PURE batman style...dispose of them as you wish. Hell, you could hang him on a coat rack, so when the guy with the flashlight points at him, he gets the **** scared outta him! You could even set it up, as when he starts running, stand right behind him, and he runs into you without knowing. grab him up and interrogate. Cuff them all and dispose of them however you would like, hang them from a street post or something, and alert Gordon. Now that’s only the petty crime scenario.

USING the BATCYCLE to get from one place to another, how much of a rush would THAT BE!!? you know how fun it is in say, GTA SA, but this right here would easily blow that away. Your Cape blowing in the air, as your racing through the streets of Gotham fastest you can in all the PS3 GRAPHIC GLORY! Just imagine how badass it would look.

Hell here comes another Idea...Car chases involving the batmobile or batcycle, like I said with the choosing your path, you make a mistake, and a few criminals got away, you need to chase after them and get answers, they could be working for a big boss, such as Two-face.....so you run to your batmobile(whatever batmobile you choose from the cave), push Triangle to get in, X to start ignition and X to accelerate, also included would be the analog sticks, with pressure sensitivity, and well, race to find them, then you realize, DOH' forgot to tag there car with a tracer. THATS what the whole realism thing would be about, You must think liek the Bat. it would be your fault you didn’t tag it, you had the option to, but you forgot, so now what? Lets take a Batcycle scenario, same controls, but you actually tagged the car. Chasing along swerving in between traffic, in Beautiful PS3 graphics, Cape whipping in the air, you ride up along side the car, they may have guns, they may not, you should decide what you’d need to do, now lets say these boys don’t have guns, you push Square....leaping off your Bat cycle(you can manufacture another in your spare time) with your beautiful bat-cape and graphics, you land atop the criminals car, THIS is where it would play out like Spiderman 2, but in that game there wasnt the deep story. press square to Start pounding on the roof, or you could reach thru the window by pressing circle, or vice versa. Now at this point your putting your life in danger, you have a thug in your grips, what do you do? you notice, we aren’t on the best of pathways, and this car is heading for a wall. so you think, I leap off, Press X, while still holding the thug(hold in L1 or something) then while up in mid air, fire your Grapple(R1) while directing yourself with the analog stick!!!! WHAT A RUSH!, pull yourself up to the nearest ledge, just toss that thug up hold him over the edge and a list of sayings...and interrogation remarks would pop up. choose one get your answer, then hell, if he asks who you are....tell him your BATMAN .......tie him up, the others are in the wreck down there...and report to Gordon.

Agility, Strength, Speed, would be basic stuff, you would be able to view those by either pressing select, and going into the menu screen, or in the batcave, you can constantly add to those meters. Some other meters are some i mentioned before, the reputation meter, the shadow meter(which would be on screen at all times by your health bar and stamina bar) and probably one other bar, maybe some type of meter that tracks your fight skills, or your ability of fighting, or what you actually know, or SOMETHING, I don’t know. maybe ill clear it up later

no go on the cell shading, but it needs to be realistic, read my first post about the graphics on the cape and the screenshots I posted how realistic it should be.

I want a game that you can immerse yourself into, feel like you ARE batman, not a cartoonish comic book video game., I don’t think it would be dark enough, or anyone wouldn’t be able to take it seriously. but if it were a free roaming batman the animated series game, I’m all for it! i Just needs me a realistic game based on the comics. . Imagine, I’m telling you to use your imagination, please, I don’t think anyone HAS. You have to imagine your playing this game, running along rooftops as batman cape blaring.

This is Batman, He should be miles ahead of GTA or any other free roaming game, because you have a lot to put in the game, what GTA has PLUS everything Batman, Gotham itself, with extreme detail, weather physics, real lighting EFFECT...LIGHTING EFFECTS.....GTA had barely ANY if at all. Think Splinter Cell lighting at night in a ****ing gigantic gotham city. imagine Batman stories up, jumps off, light reflecting from the lit windows....much like a train passing, he pops his cape, the light must reflect off the cloth and make it look like cloth, not like a liquid cape. you must be able to do these things because SHADOWS AND STEALTH would be a MASSIVE PART OF THIS GAME....UNLIKE GTA...

Now that’s JUST the lighting department, not to mention everyone on the streets would have something to say to batman, and the streets would be filled with many models of characters, more so then GTA, you just see random people walking...in batman, bums will stay in alleys, suited people will fill the walks of the business area, and there just has to be MORE...with each petty crime you must have more. I don’t know how to explain this ****, because knowing you morons you will compare it to "SPIDERMAN 2"....shut up, those graphics ****ing blew 61,505 inches of cock. moths need to move, there needs to be as much detail as any of the main characters, more models.... There will be a different path of Crimes, not like the whole repeating crimes in Spiderman2, each crime should be non-linear in how you can approach it, that means more motion capture, or modeling for the citizens. There are many things you have to realize...I don’t think it would take 5 YEARS, maybe 3 or 4 so they can get it the best possible, i mean, ill take 3 years if they cant fit all the detail in. I think I MAY have scratched the surface.....

Whatever, as long as i have the essence of what batman is and what he embodies....Shadows, intimidation.. Determination!.....Cave, Vehicles, Computer, Technology, weapons, strength, power, EVERYTHING IT MUST TAKE to fight for justice IN the run down streets of a gigantic gotham.....Everything there is....Relationships with Gordon....Trust...Responsibility.....**** Spiderman...Grand theft auto or any other game, this...if made will not be BEATEN....its not possible, mostly everyone...deep in there soul...wants to fight crime, for justice and protect their city, and this can be the chance they get.

Money Money Money for you WB...... and EA for that matter

Hell id pay up to 300 dollars for JUST this game....

now after all that, there are ENDLESS ideas, especially ideas i HAVE, its one of my goals in life to actually see this game get done, so if that means i have to go thru school and make it myself, i will.

A Batman game near this capacity really lies on the shoulders of superman returns the game, its free raoming and if its a success, i think batman 2 will follow suit. Batman begins was originally suppose to be free raom but they had deadlines. Dark tomorrow worked to a certain extent. and all the elements need to come together, and EA should be responsible, if the license so happens to change, then its in their hands to really have a successful batman game.

dont test me..

Lol woaw people are just using your ideas amazing

Why let it end? Don't beat the Joker then roll credits, beat the Joker then some other nutcase breaks out and it's back to work.
Crime never ends.;)
Random crimes all over Gotham could keep you busy between the big nutcase breakouts, hundreds, maybe thousands of AI random crimes...not 10 like in Spiderman. LOL!
Mysteries would need to be solved, so maybe CSI style crimes could also be the norm for this kind of game.

Great Ideas.

in a few words: one long a$$ Batman game!

Damn Ea Needs To Make A Free Roaming Game Like One Of These. It Would Be Great!

I thought it would also be cool if you could change the graphics from certain styles, such as all three Bruce Timm animated styles, Jim Lee, Tim Sale, Ed McGuinness, Frank Miller, Neil Adams, Dick Sprang/ Adam West, or the Nolan Universe (Maybe a Tim Burton one)

Use the basic engine that was used for Resident Evil 4, including the context sensitive actions that would allow you to jump through windows or pane glass cieling peices and interact with the environment.

Make the story a mystery, like Grim Fandango, so the gameplay revolves as much around breaking down a crime scene and interorgating criminals as it does stealth action. Make it have multiple tracks you can go down, depending on how good your skills as a detective are. For example. if you search a crime scene and find a note with information on it, you can use it when interorgating, say the Penguin, and get information that leads you down one track, but if you miss it you end up chasing a different lead that sends you on a different track.

When it comes to interorgating criminals, use creative gameplay, such as having the right analog stick control the speed and direction that you repel somebody off a rooftop with your rope. Or use the environment, so you can put a mobster's tie in a printing press and then control how much of it the plate cylinders eat. You need to scare them enough, and ask the right questions, but if you do too much they can pass out and you won't get what you're looking for. Also, if you haven't done your detective work, they can lie to you and you won't know it. Moreover, character interaction in general should be on the level of KOTOR or Grim Fandango.

While not free roaming, I imagine it as made up of many large locations that can be accessed at any time using the Batmobile somewhat like The Legend of Zelda or Survival Horror games. You can't acess the entire city, but it's not linear. Thus, you can go and explore areas multiple times for clues.

You can acess the Batcave anytime via the Batmobile. Here, you can use the Batcomputer to peice together clues and test substances found at the scene of the crime in the lab. You can also train and develop your skills. You will also have to decide which tools to carry in your utility belt, as you have many different tools, but based on the information, you will have to decide what will be most useful to you since space is limited in your belt.

When it comes to combat, let one of the trigger buttons move you over to combat mode, where you lock in on a target where you have the option of punches, kicks, and grabs, which in conjunction to the analog stick can perform a variety of moves. Also, use context sensitive actions so you can perform more unique and cinematice moves, such as the running kick in Resident Evil 4. Think a more ellaborate version of CQC in Metal Gear Solid 3. Keep it so that two or three men can be taken down without getting messed up, but let it be possible to become overwhelmed. Putting the emphasis on taking out a room strategically with Batarangs, Gas Pellets, Shock Grenades, and Sonics.

As for the graphics, I'd like Resident Evil 4 style graphics, touched up a bit for the next gen. Style it after Jae Lee's work. Gotham should be a dark and gritty with lots of texture and moody lighting.

To sum it up:

These graphics, camera, and basic gameplay.
