I don't know if there's a thread already, but lately I've been on a huge "old school" Adult Swim kick. Watching Mission Hill, Tom Goes To The Mayor, ATHF, Space Ghost, Sealab 2012, Futurama, and, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law.. almost religiously. For me, being 13 when the programming came on (September 1st, 2001), my dad going to sleep around 9 PM left me feeling so rebellious watching it. Especially during the summer staying up until 5 AM to watch all of the shows.

My favorite show, ever, is probably still Mission Hill. I just loved the show so much. It was downright funny and thoughtful. Andy is probably one of my favorite TV characters of all time. I don't know why but, I could totally relate to him and at the age I was at the time. Just a lazy care-free guy who wanted escape from the real world and his parents until his younger brother, Kevin, comes into the picture and ruins his perfect world. I loved Mission Hill, such a vastly underrated show.

The other show I completely loved was Space Ghost: Coast to Coast. I loved how it was a complete parody of the late night talk shows. Space Ghost being the host, Zorak being the music man/"side-kick", Moltar being the guy that preps the interview guest before they talk to Space Ghost and, Brak? Well...That's Brak. lol. I completely loved this show, even at the age of 13. I loved how they had the interactions between Space Ghost and Crew feel so..original..

So, I was wondering. Is there any other "old school" Adult Swim fans out there? If so, what are your favorite shows, episodes and characters? :yay:

"old school" Adult Swim was great. i remember stay up late in the fourth grade watching the shows. i probably didn't get half the jokes at the time, but it was fun.

Mission Hill is great, one of the best themes.

I remember the first time it premiered. I didn't know what the hell my brother and I had turned to cause this show called Cowboy Bebop was coming on. The most amazing opening credits I had ever seen.

The original Adult Swim outro-intro had the guy swimming in the pool.

Old school? Referring to something as old school that's only been around for a few years is kind of a stretch.

Space Ghost, Brak Show

9 years is more than "a few years"

But Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman and Cowboy Bebop are still greats.

hellyes, i tuned in 'cause i had heard good things about this nifty little 'toon named cowboy bebop. but soon they got me hooked with Home Movies, which i can't believe anybody has mentioned already because it's one of my favorite all time series, Sealab 2021, which eventually led me to mc chris, and eventually ATHF, which i actually didn't like at first but quickly grew on me.

edit: and mission hill, i didn't even mention mission hill! i really wish there were more episodes. :csad:

Hell yeah. Coach McGuirk's sound advice!lol

The only thing I remember from old adult swim was space ghost coast to coast and some small man dressed as space ghost dancing around. Mission Hill, Tom Goes to the Mayor and the others are old school too? I love those two. I don't even consider it old.

I guess older/better shows would have been the right wording.

I miss the old anime-mix they used to have. I really honestlymiss when it first premiered and it was mostly anime. I mean , I didnt mind when they started their original programming, in fact, Harvey Birdman is one of my all-time favorites, but I miss the anime line-up. Today, they treat anime a sif everyone hates, and that it's beneath them, but they got their start with it, so they should have a little more respect for the medium.

How is nearly a decade not is long enough to consider something "old school"?

you know you can watch Futurama on Comedy Central now right?? and they do show the older stuff on weekends (SeaLab, Harvey Birdman)

I remember Mission Hill used to originally air on the then WB. It last a ep or two until Adult Swim picked it up.

EVERYBODY OUT OF THE POOL. ADULT SWIM

The old days of AS were great. Anime flowed freely and they still remembered they were called CARTOON network. Now we are stuck with dumb **** like Tim & Eric, who I might add are getting another dumb show called Jim and Derrick, The Might Boosh and Dark Place. People who like those shows make me sick. If ever run into Tim and Eric in my lifetime I swear I plan to let them know how much of a waste of life they are.

"Old-school" Adult Swim was great. Especially Sealab. But I like their newer stuff a lot too. Including Tim and Eric. Feeling ill yet Kenshin?

Nope. While I don't agree or understand....to each their own.

The ones who remembered Cowboy Bebop on the old school Adult Swim might also remember that YuYu Hakusho, Trigun, and Big-O also came on. Adult Swim had a crazy cool Saturday night anime lineup.

I still fail to see how 9 years qualifies as old school unless the person who's calling it old school is like 13.

Give me Tim and Eric over anime anytime.
