Anyone else into not drinking?

I drink until I'm hydrated. It makes me more lively. Also, not dead.

Inspired by BattMatt's last post, here's a question:

What kind of drinker are you? I've a friend who's married to a drinker and she said she prefers him drunk because he's more lively when he's drunk. When he's sober, he's quiet and boring but when he's drunk, he's just so much fun! Because of that, she encourages him to drink, drink to a point where he gets drunk, as often as possible.

That is terrible. My grandmother was the same way with her second husband and they later divorced because of, you guessed it, his drinkin'.

I find it really sad that some people need to drink in order to socialize, and even sadder that someone's spouse would push them to drink in order to be that way. Unfortunately I know quite a few people like that, some of them only 19 or 20 years old. But hell, I guess it's just "part of the scene"...

Well since I inspired the question...

Look people find me personable, funny, and charming sober. My sense of humour is my greatest gift (IMO). I've gotten a lot of praise for my wit and quickness to make a joke in a situation. When I drink, I only drink to one point, which is black-out drunk. To me there is no sense in drinking casually unless its a glass of wine with a good drama movie, or a few beers at a BBQ. If I'm going to a bar, I wanna get wasted, it's that simple. Now I turn 22 in three months and graduate college in just over four, so my time of being this type of drinker three nights a week is winding down. I imagine once I'm in the working world I'll drink more casually and my "wasted" nights will be more of a specialty rather than a regularity.

I don't see the point to being married to someone who, without being on a substance, is boring in your eyes. You're going to spend the rest of your life with them. Seems like a bad idea to marry someone who's only interesting in doses.

In this day and age...? :lmao:

Well, isn't that the point? If that's not the case, then why get married? You might as well have a live-in or swinger relationship instead.

Just saying...most marriages don't last nowadays.

I'm an occasional drinker. I never get FUBAR b/c I don't see the point. I don't drink to relieve stress b/c both of my parents are alcoholics. Other than that, an occasional beer is pretty much it. Plus, most alcoholic drinks taste horrible to me.

I don't drink. Personally I don't see why you should put yourself through hang overs and what not.

I had a hangover when I was 19; I don't recommend it.

I don't usually get hangovers that a glass of water in the morning won't take care

That thread sucks so bad lol
I haven't gone into that thread. You can't blame me, can you? Not with a title like that! :cmad:
I might be tempted to do what the title suggests...

Alcoholic beverages taste mostly the same to me. The taste of the alcohol overwhelms most of the other flavors, and well, the taste of alcohol is not a pleasant one.

Obviously, I'm at that age (the age being anywhere from 15-80) where drinking is considered pretty damn awesome, and looked at as being something you should do whenever humanly possible.

That aside, I've never been able to get into it. To me, seeing people drunk is like watching someone inseminate a cow; sure, it's a noble effort, but I could never see getting any enjoyment out of it.

It's not like I'm against drinking, or afraid of it, or have some phobia against it...I just don't particularly see the point of it, and thusly have never gotten into it.Anyone else feel the same way?
Sound like you need a drink. :woot:

...and to answer your question:

This IS my movie:

lolz. Just because you drink doesn't automatically mean you're gonna get a hang over. :hehe:

Some people are so naive. "Oh no I can't drink because i'll automatically get really pissed and act like a idiot and have a bad head the next day!"

But each his own. I just find it funny when people act like that.

haha beerfest i enjoyed that movie.

i agree ace...from my experience, when i drink moderately i don't act stupid and get a headache the next day.

Alcohol is just like anything else, as long as it's taken in moderation, you're all good.

Ah I like cider if I must drink but I only do it on occasion, like it has been said before moderation blah blah blah etc..

The problem is society seems to encourage binging on the hooch. Conventional medical wisdom says anything beyond 1-2 alcoholic drinks is too much and large amounts, even if you can "handle it", is toxic. I have known a couple of people out of a few hundred drinkers who could have a single beer/wine cooler and be done. That is why I never started.

Yea but do you drink proper cider or the stuff that hasn't seen a apple in it's life? :D

Yea I see what you're saying. I don't drink that much anymore. I actually used to drink more when I was 17-18, I suppose it was like "Whooaaaa!! I can get served in the pub for the first time! Let's go all out!"

But these days i only drink on a Friday or Saturday night. I just enjoy coming home from work, putting my feet up and having a bevvie, then maybe going out up the town with my pals and having a few more. I rarely get proper pissed up now-a-days. Getting to old for it :hehe:
