Anyone Here Ever Successfully Quit Smoking?

I smoke.... tried stopping once, but I enjoy it too much....

I hear you JokerNick . . . I liked smoking my arse off . . . it may sound cheesy, but you can only quit when you're ready; the change must come from within LOL!

^are you serious!?!?! That's crazy, and I don't know if I quite buy it, cuz I'd been smoking for like 8 years when I recently quit . . . but then again, nicotine addiction and withdrawal effects everyone differently

of course i'm serious. it's not really a bragging point is it?

I quit last year. I had smoked for two years before, since all my friends done it. One day I just thought "You know what, it's ****ing up my lungs. It's not worth it." so I just stopped.

I've been a smoker for six years. I smoke about a pack a day, but every now and then it happens that I don't smoke a single cigarette for an entire week and lighting one up doesn't even cross my mind. That's an encouraging thought if I ever should decide to quit I hope.

The only time I really can't go without smoking is when I go out. I'm just much more addicted to the act of smoking than to the nicotine I guess.

Never ever smoked a cigerette.

I have a bit of weed now and again but you know....I don't LET it become a habit.

I quit cold turkey 3 years ago.

You have to remember it takes 7 days to start a habit but 21 to stop it

Just compensate for your urges by drinking lots of water and chew gum.

You only have to hold on for 21 days.

All you guys struggling to quit smoking.

Serves you right for starting in the first place. :p

Why don't you ride that high horse of yours into another thread?

so . . . wow, this thread is old . . . kinda makes me realize all the time I've wasted . . .

for the record, I quit smoking around the time I started this thread, but I started again, only to quit again, only to start AGAIN :cmad:

Well I'm going to quit AGAIN . . . for GOOD this time, and April 7th is going to be my quit date . . . thought I'd throw this out there for some moral support . . . for myself, and for those around the country affected by an OBSCENE increase in cigarette taxes across the country whom are ready to quit with me . . .

I realize this is an old thread, but for anyone trying to quit electronic cigarettes actually help. A lot. There's a ton of different brands, but I went with Crown7 Hydro. It's also cheaper in the long run, because you can by liquid off of ebay instead of continuously ordering cartridges. All you have to do usually is put three drops of the juice in the old cartridge when it runs out.

What did you do to try to quit before? How long did it last?

I've heard of those, and I'm kind of interested, but I'm trying to quit for good . . . I don't want to be dependent on nicotine in any shape or form . . .

The first time I quit by using Welbutrin . . . I quit for about 5 months, and started smoking when my buddy from the Air Force came to town to visit for a month . . . I went out drinking with him practically every night he was here, and while it started with me just smoking in the bars, it soon turned back into all the time . . .

The second time I quit, I used Chantix, and I quit for about 2 months, and started again after I was in a car accident . . .

Understandable. It's such a low dose that I'll go a day without using it or anything else. It really doesn't help when you're drinking though...

I'm on day 62 of quitting cold turkey.

haha, yeah I bet!! I actually plan to stop drinking for a while so I'll stay outta the bars . . . but the thought of a 'cigarette' you can smoke anywhere at any time is pretty enticing . . .

damn bro! you're a bad ass . . . I'm sure your eyebrows have been thanking you for not scorching them anymore . . . :o

I drink about once a week and I usually go through half of my friends pack on those nights, wake up the next morning feeling like my throat is completely destroyed.

The whole ecigarette allows me to take deep breaths once again which is totally refreshing and help with the whole "my body's dying" thing.

My gf and I quit for 3 months(longest we've ever gone)about a year and a half ago.

We both just quit yesterday, Sunday night before bed we hopefully had our last smoke.

Hopefully we can keep it going, take things a day at a time.

it sounds pretty damn awesome, I'll admit that . . . and if I ever do go back to smoking in some form, I will DEF be giving those a try
