Can't wait to pick this one up.

I have it, but I haven't read it yet.

Looks pretty interesting, I'll probably pick it up.

I saw it at the comic shop a couple weeks ago. I was really tempted to buy it right there on the spot but I didn't have the money as it was a really big week that week. So, I'll be picking that bad boy up in the future. Yeah, I'm sure most of the stories will be corny but it's always cool to have a nice collection of old school Batman stories. :batman:

Probably just a collection of well known but rarely reprinted stories.

That's where your lack of research lets you down, my friend. The book reprints Detective Comics #327 - 342 and Batman #164 - 174.

Those campy 60's stories are not my cup of tea, hopefully those Showcase books start reprinting the stuff from the 70's into the 80's.

Can't wait 'til they get to the Dennis O'Neil/Neal Adams era - then they'll fly off the shelves.

Hell no!! I like soft toilet paper with aloe vera.

Actually the stories in Showcase begin exactly where the campy era ended. It starts with the Carmine Infantino era, which was a deliberate attempt to get away from the crazy sci-fi stories of the previous decade and back to more dramatic, crime-based adventures.

I just read a few issues from it tonight. I must say, it isn't as ridiculous as many make 60s Batman comics out to be. It seemed to be even more serious than the TV show was.

Sure, it's obviously for children - sure, the storytelling is dated - but no more than, say, Scooby Doo is (and, admittedly, Scooby Doo is a personal favorite of mine:o) - and it has it's charm.

So I was pleasantly surprised by it - which I'm quite glad about as it pretty much deals with that part of Batman's history that has really yet to be retold with modern comics.

Yeah, as I say, Showcase picks up exactly where the 60's revamp started, out with the ridiculous sci-fi silliness that could have happened to any character, and in with more crime-solving-based adventures.
