Seen some adds for it wondering if it was any good.

I'm playing it, and it's not bad. Graphically, it's better. Customization wise, it's better. However, I can't shake this feeling like it's either rough, or just not engaging yet. It's more PvP than anything else once you get to higher levels, where WoW is more PvE. I think they call it PvPvE or something. Either way, it's pretty cool, but it's still new here in America, though a year (?) old in Korea and Asia. Chances are, they still have some development to do before it gets real good. WoW went through the same things.

I played till level 10 or 11 on my gladiator before quitting. The combat system for both the melee classes at the early levels issooo boring. You pretty much just stare at your avatar auto-attack a target while you wait on the 12-13 second cooldown on their abilities making it a grindfest to get to level 10 to just pick the path you want your avatar to take. And even after you reach 10, it still seem like a grindfest with only 3-4 new abilities; two which only could be used when you started a chain attack. It just pretty much didn't give enough interest to level up to explore more of the features it had.

As far as graphics, sure they are better compare to WoW but then again, WoW has an old engine compare to AION. And customization is better but I think its kinda a double edge sword in that, yes your avatar can look unique but also you might spend alot of time going back and forth deleting and re-creating avatar to just get it right.

There's also the queues on the servers just to keep it balance between the two factions that you know its been caused by the mass fest of private shops, most which cover up some important place like a trainer or the flight path npc. Oh! and the WoW bashing that goes on in the general chat think its even worse than the Barrens general chat in WoW.

:o And WoW did not go through the same thing, since it did keep you interested at the starting levels to continued to push to the end stuff unlike AION which feels like a grindfest even with the quests.

:o I won't tell if you come back to World of Casualcraft, we get to kill Arthas in 5man instead of a raid.

jk :woot:

It's basically word of warcraft in Asia land.

How? Honestly, how?

The classes are nothing a like. The combat system is about as different as it can be (multi hits, power shards, chain combos). The story is nothing a like. The PVP is nothing a like. The PvE is the only thing similar, but every MMO has similar PvE.

I got a 39 Chanter and all everyone ever tells me is "that game sucks it's just a prettier version of WoW!", and what that tells ME is that they've never actually played the game.

World Of Warcraft is successful, rather than attempt to do there own thing most MMO's pretty much copy paste the formula, there are obvious difference but it is pretty much the same "Go here kill X" "Go there deliver" "Go there Collect" "move on to next area with enemy NPC's one or two levels above" formula along with a distinct lack of story telling beyond tree stump NPC's and about two three cut-scenes along with grinding until you reach a certain level for PVP and raids. First person shooters had this problem prior to Halflife, same thing over and over, it was in a state of stagnation. I hope the Old Republic changes this by adding proper story telling. Guild Wars had aspects that chopped out most of the aspects people hate about MMO's, it's too bad developers don't attempt emulate that particular game.

Ok so then it's like every MMO out there. Because that's what every mmo is. I've been playing MMO's since UO - that part has always been the same in mmos.

So other than that, it's nothing like WoW.
