Anyone read Alan Moore's Lost Girls yet?

I just finished the last volume today. What an amazing contrast between this book being pretty much the most sexualy graphic comic I've ever seen and it being one of the most beautiful at the same time. I mean, don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against porno, but it's always simply served it's purposes. The fact that Moore can take it and sculpt it into such an amazing piece of art about sexual taboos, loss of innocence and the full out power of love over war astounds me. If you guys get a chance you should definitely read it.

I really need to read this. You remember in Futurama when the Professor was de-aged and commented that he would now need a fake ID to purchase Super-Porn? Well, I think the Lost Girls is the begining stages of Super-Porn.

Why does it seem like some of the best comic book writers (Alan Moore, Warren Ellis, etc) are obsessed with explicit sex? It's amazing how they manage to work rape and anal sex into so many of their stories. Obviously Lost Girls revolves around the subject of sexual experimentation, so that's to be expected, but sometimes I wonder if these writers are compromising some of their art on some level because of their drive to work in so many of their own sexual predilections.

The guy at my shop told me it was really overrated. And this guy is an Alan Moor nutjob. He was talking about this book for a while. He says the art sucks and its just bad porn.



Is there actually a story to it?

Not for the prudish, uptight or dim of wit, but this high-art/pornographic masterpiece is one of my favorite Alan Moore projects ever, which is obviously saying a lot. How can you love comics and not be thrilled to the point of not sleeping by the prospect of hundreds of new pages from the medium's greatest creator?

I wanna get it.
