I had almost completely forgotten about that show until two days ago when Boomerang was showing a marathon of it - then it all came flooding back into my brain.

Anyone else remember this one?

yes I remember...

and I've been trying to erase that memory file ever since it was created. This is up there IMO, among the worst cartoons ever made. Not only in quality, but also in concept. God, it was stupid.

I remember it came out around the same time that GI JOE was basterdized into GI JOE: Eco Warriors.

I would have had a much happier childhood, had the captain planet timeslot been filled with something more interesting.

I hope to never see it again, or the little mexican kid in it, and his stupid monkey

Umm, I use to watch that show (since there wasn't much on at the time) and I don't remember that little mexican kid being Mexican at all. I thought he was from South America.

The show was geared too much towards little kids (same reason I hated the snarfs in The Thundercats). As a guy with powers (fire, earth, wind, water) he would of been cool in the marvel/DC universe (as long as his weakness wasn't pollution).

I watched it on occasion when I was younger and enjoyed it. I too saw an episode over the weekend on Boomerang.

And boy, was it terrible. I'm all for teaching kids (or anyone) about the environment, but the whole thing is a public service announcement disguised as entertainment. And in addition to being a propaganda tool, the show itself sucks. The characters are written to be so politically correct that they become stereotypical and annoying. Or maybe they're just annoying becuase the dialogue is awful. The plots were awful too, even for the subject matter. It's sad that Captain Planet himself was the best character in the show, because he's really lame. I don't think the creators of the show even tried to make an interesting superhero. Actually, I don't think they cared about quality at all. They knew only kids would watch it, and that they didn't know what quality was. Bastards.

It always looks worse looking back, doesn't it?

Still, the Russian chick was kinda hot as cartoon characters go.

Not really. There are some shows that I have so much sentimental attachment to that I like them anyway, and others that I like even better now than I did when I was younger.

I remember watching this show. I believe my favorite episodes were the ones involving Captain Pollution.

I saw it a few years ago.It was great,i still do ways of protecting the earth from what the cartoon teached.:woot:

I remember it, i remember my hate for this show.

I never liked it as a kid, my cousins would always watch it, i couldnt stand it.

It was just soooo pc it made me sick, imagine even as a child u see how weak it was!

I remember it, though not necessarily through choice.

I always liked Linkas ring abilities.

They were awsome i grew up watching this and thundercats!

I always thought Monty, the guy with the 'heart' ring, got the bad end of the deal (as far as power rings go).

Captain Planet had potential but they decided to be preachy which is what hurt the show.

Those are the only good episodes. I remember watching that and thinking, "wow they actually made a good episode!"

The villains were the main weakness of the show. The villains all simply enjoyed poluting or being ***** to people. They even called them "eco-villains" in the show. They had to real motivation.

I think comic legend Neal Adams did the toy artwork which is the only cool thing about CP.

haha, I just remembered the ep. where Gaia switched places with Dr. Blight.:csad:

I remember this.
This was one of those shows that I didn't like, but there was nothing on, so I'd watch it. The first season (DiC version) sucked. "The New Adventures of Captain Planet" (Hanna-Barbara version of the show) was better. Halfway through the 2nd series, the opening was a rapping mouth with green lips. (I thought it was funny)
