Oh no Elon created an SHH competitor.

Just left Superman and yep, I’m more or less in love. I need 20 more movies with Corenswet as Supes pronto.
I’ve spent years rolling my eyes at all of the “SuPeRmAn iS sO hArD tO aDaPt” comments and feel so vindicated
My only real quibble would be the pacing, I think it was @Shinobi Shaw I saw say that script could’ve maybe used one more pass and I think I agree.
But it’s tough because I do like how it kinda just throws you into everything and doesn’t bother with the tedious world building of a character and universe we’ve all seen before.
Superman encouraged me to revisit The Suicide Squad. I hadn't watched it since 2021 when it premiered on Max.
I do not say this lightly, this is a 10/10 movie. I forgot how excellent this film was. Probably the best film the DCEU outputted. Man, if only it didnt come out during Covid, this should have been a hit, such a freaking well done film.
Flanagan is producing and co-writing Clayface.I think he may have to pry him away from Flanigan. I think Flanigan will give him more interesting stuff, as well.
Always happy to help new fans discover this character! Glad you enjoyed the movie as much as I did.
Next up, you must watch Superman & Lois!![]()
Keep the New Gods out of my Supes stories, pls.
Give the New Gods their own movie/franchise.
And give me Mongul/Warworld for Supes. After Brainiac, of course.
I feel like Gunn will definitely recruit him to the DCU if he hasn't already.
I'm still disappointed that he didn't show up as Marvel's Santa Claus in that.I feel like Gunn and Hamill have flirted with working with each other for a while. I want to say he was rumored to be in both GOTG Vol. 3 and the Holiday Special. Now there's a guy I'm utterly shocked hasn't showed up in either the MCU or a DC movie (Joker voicework not included).
I really thought that was blood on her hands before putting two and two together with the spray paint.
Whether something is a flop or considered a worthwhile investment is 2 totally different things. There are plenty of movies that have made money, good money, in their theatrical runs that were not considered good investments because they didn't make "enough" money. That didn't make them flops.
And you are wrong.
180-200m budget. Made 411m. Got a sequel.
Movies like Marvel films have multiple revenue streams and you have to factor in things like licensing, toy sales, etc. Captain America: The First Avenger only made $370 WW. But it got sequels. With Thunderbolts in particular, you're featuring this team in Doomsday with the hopes that it will boost their popularity. Which worked for all the core Avengers from Phase 1 going into Phase 2 and beyond. Thunderbolts making close to $400 mil is fine.
In regards to Shang-Chi and Eternals, both were pandemic era releases. In the case of Eternals, that movie on top of making what it did, it also got poor reviews and WOM. Shang-Chi had the opposite. Hence why Shang-Chi is going to be featured in Doomsday and get a sequel
Dude no one has time to dig up 3 month old debate.Hey, late to this party. The board was malfunctioning a few months back, so apologies for the delayed reply.
Pacific Rim 2 was the exception, not the rule. The original overperformed internationally, so it was one of the rare cases where a follow-up would have been good business.
Could Thunderbolts have followed a similar path? Sure. It would have been unlikely, but anythings possible.
Unfortunately it didn't. Captain America Brave New World and Thunderbolts are both Theatrical flops. Came in below the break-even theatrically. The Trades have said this. Even this website (SHH) has branded Thunderbolts as a theatrical flop in the News section.
It's the first time Marvel Studios has had two of these consecutively, and that's great. They need to make some big changes over there after all the poor decisions of recent years, and audiences are voting with their wallets about what content that find appealing and what they do not.
