Anyone remember the phenomenon of casting Kevin Pennington in everything?

This was during the early days maybe around 2010? and every freaking insider casting report, even from somewhat legit online news sites would mention every other week that Marvel had cast Kevin Pennington as.....Hawkeye, Spider-man, Quasar, Johnny Storm, Iron Fist etc. etc the list going on and on. And this would spread like wildfire online. Screenrant even did an interview with “Kevin Pennington” about the marvel castings which I’m fairly certain was completely fabricated because the “actor” doesn’t exit. Yet he was constantly reported for every major casting choice. And I’m pretty sure the image that we saw was some random abercrombie and fitch model from the aughts.

I will always wonder if this was some elaborate studio plant or some obsessively involved troll having a laugh at public and the media frenzy over Marvel castings.

I remember it. I assumed at the time that the actor was adding himself to the IMDb cast list to get his name out there but I didn’t realize the actor wasn’t real at all.

I don’t remember that. But I do remember that prior to Heath Ledger being cast as the Joker in TDK, the huge buzz was that Lachy Hulme, a guy most famous for a blink-and-you-miss-it part in Matrix Reloaded was far and away the front runner for the role.
