Has anyone taken any? If so, which ones? What did you make on them, if you don't mind sharing your score.

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, AP stands for Advanced Placement, as in Advanced Placement Program. You take AP courses (Some call them Honors classes) and at the end of the year you take an AP test, and if you score high enough you get college credit and you can skip some introductory courses when you get there. The grading scale is 1-5, "with a score of 3 considered passing and the following general meanings":
  • 5-Extremely well qualified
  • 4-Well qualified
  • 3-qualified
  • 2-possibly qualified
  • 1-No reccomendation

It's all explained in the link.

I took a couple junior year in high school. Physics-3, US History-2. After than, I was done. But the 3 on physics got me 8 credits in college.

My college is bugging me to join the honors program...they notice my high GPA

Not sure I will do it, though.

Yeah, that US History is a *****. My teacher was a complete idiot. My sister had him and didn't even take the test because of it. That's pretty sweet for Physics, I heard it was pretty tough. The Physics classes at my school are awful.

I just can't handle history very well. I didn't pay much attention. I remember juggling during class on more than one occasion. But physics- I had a great teacher, and I tend to be science minded. We built trebuchets as a final project and had a contest for accuracy and proportional distance, ours won. (My daddy's an engineer and helped a bit. :woot:)

My teacher called last night to congradulate me on geting a 4 on my AP Euro test :woot:
Still wish I had gotten a five tho....

Oh, I forgot to give my scores. This year I took English Lang. and US History. I got a 4 on English, and a 2 on History. I got the highest score in my class along with a couple of others for English, and pretty much no one passed US History. Someone in the other AP English class did make a 5. I'm excited for English Lit.

To be honest Spidey, they will not help anymore than your regular classes in finding a teaching job later on (don't let them tell you differently).....your high GPA, will be what you need to keep.....not the specific classes......also.....honestly...............there is now a HUGE teaching shortage down South...........and they want qualified teachers, solid GPA, past the TexCet, NTE, or whatever the state requires.....once you have that.......you're hired......so unless you have alot of extra time for the extra work.....my advice, stay with your classes as is....

I'm taking Art History this year. Thought about European. Decided against it.

Awww European History is awesome......I don't teach it, but I've got the certification to teach it.....its very interesting, and much better than the Pre AP or AP World History......AP Human Geograhy is very good as well.....

I don't even know if enough people signed up this year for the class to make. I already took World History my sophomore year. What do you teach?

No doubt. Have you seen the book? It's huge. But I've been in art for years. I'm taking AP Art 4 as well. And I'm going to enter my portfolio for the AP Art (studio art).

Taking AP Art History, and doing well on the AP test, will get you through alot of those early boring art history classes....so its worth it.

I took AP Calculus last year. It was horrible. :( Before the class started up, the regular math teacher died of cancer. The whole year everyone was learning from substitutes (One of which was a physics teacher.). Somehow, though, I managed to get a 4 on the AP test. I'd like to take it over again. I don't know if it's me or what, but I feel like I didn't learn a thing. :o

Next year, I have a full plate. AP Statistics, AP U.S. History (This one I'm geeking out over.), and AP English. Yeah, I'm dead. :(

This year I'm taking AP English 4, AP Macro Economics/AP Government, AP Art History, AP Art 4, And Pre-AP Pre-Cal (I'm not a math person). I was singed up for AP Psychology, but I dropped it so I could have fewer classes.

Good grief....good luck!
