Apple console...yes or no?

I believe that, if Apple would get into gaming, Sony would be fu**ed.
And i´ll explain why...
Microsoft and Apple are "mortal enemies", they are direct competitors, so, if Apple would get into the industry, they would try and mimic what Microsoft has done so far and then some more, which means Microsoft would "counterattack" and so on....
Nintendo would be an all diferent ball game so no one would pay attention to them....Sony, on the other hand....
In the end, Apple vs Microsoft could very well destroy the industry.

Either that, or we would see a team up between Microsoft and Sony.
and throughout this, Sony would just be sitting on the sidelines doing absolutely nothing?

i'd love for apple to join the fray.

the more competition, the better.

i have no console allegiances like a lot of weird people do, so i'd love for more choices.

Like i said, Sony could join forces with Microsoft...or Apple.
The point is, and not taking away any merit from Sony, if Microsoft really wanted (it doesn´t and it will never going to happen), they could crush the PS3.
Why?
Because MS has more money than God.

I think iPhone and iPod Touch can already be perceived as a handheld console of Apple, and I'm not sure if they will venture into the dangerous water of a next-gen console, and compete against 360, PS3, and Wii. It will be far too risky financially, and Apple is better off sticking with their successful iMac, iPod, and iPhone.

even then they arent really competing in the handhelf market with Sony and Nintendo

I don't think they'll enter the market the traditional way.

Apple will probably have an updated AppleTV that supports app downloads and that'll be their foot into the console space.

If this were true, MS would've crushed Apple out of existence a long time ago.

Oh, I'm sure it's in their interest to do so, but I don't believe that can just do it to anyone and everyone if they wanted. I'm sure they'd love to crush Apple out of existence, Sony and Nintendo too for that matter.

Yeah, because Microsoft is the evil empire, and after Apple, Sony and Nintendo are dead, Microsoft would turn they eyes to world domination.
After that....space, the final frontier...and turn Steve Ballmer into Darkseid.
:whatever:

I can´t understand this all hate against Microsoft, and i don´t mean you alone, but all gaming sites i go.

Goddammit can someone say something less than positive about MS without it being hate to you. I'm sure they would as I'm sure Nintendo would, or Sony would, or Apple would, or EA would, or Wal-Mart would, or who have you. These Megacorps want profits, and the way you maximize that would be crushing out your competition. I'm sure not everyone within MS feels that way, but I'm sure the CEOs above fantasize about it all the time.

I have no more hate towards MS then I do anyone else. You just seem to take any criticial statement I make towards them and twist it as some type of hate:whatever:

If Apple did come up with something, it would be the comet that killed the dinosaurs type deal that renders everyone else's most advanced game system obsolite. Like virtual reality helmets or something crazy like that. They already have the goggles and the audio tech, it's just the matter of it capturing your body movements. if anyone would throw out something like that, it would be apple. and all the game systems, hell, home entertainment as we know it would have to follow.

First things first, there is nothing that points that it will happen.

First it was Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, that said it would make perfect sense, and believes that Apple´s gaming sucess will not stop with the iPhone.
Now, it´s Michell Guillemot, brother of Yves and CEO of Gameloft, that said the the exact same thing, that it would make perfect sense for Apple to expand their reach into gaming in light of the success of the iPhone and iPod Touch.

So, do you belive it will happen sooner or later?
And if so, and in light of the all "there can be only three", which console would get it´s butt kicked?
the only things that I know of that let apple's computer's play both video and pc games are code weaver so they can play games that are other systems. and then there's the iphone which is doing this and doing well so far on getting certain games. if they are gonna make their own consol that's will be interesting but with every thing they put out the cost margen is always too high. Minus code weaver. I don't know if i'd buy their consol. lol

I don´t hate anyone, but when you say:

It gives an idea of Microsoft being the boogeyman.
All it would have taken was for you to say something like: Every company would love to crush their competitors if they had the chance.
It would have made things more clearly, and much more realistic.
It´s just that i like to defend the little guy, and when everywhere i look (this is the only site i post, but, when i go to gametrailers, i usually end on looking at the message boards too), there is pure hate towards Microsoft.
Not dislike, but "they are the worst thing to happen to video games" kind of hate.
And all the hate makes Microsoft the "little guy"

And just for the record, i can´t stand Steve Ballmer, that would guy wouldn´t even make a good lackey for Darkseid

I only said MS because that's who we were talking about. I think I was being clear, I meant what I said, but it's not derived from some kind of hate like you seem to think it is every time. It's just reality

ok.

Well actually, there is a real hatred and disdain between Apple and Microsoft. It goes back to Microsoft stealing the software for Windows from Apple and giving Apple's hardware designs to IBM back in the 1980s. Ever since Apple has hated Microsoft and took a protectionist independent type of strategy in the 1990s that caused them to nearly implode and Microsoft bought Apple out at that point. Don't tell me they were not planning to dismantle Apple, but then Microsoft had problems during the bubble burst at the turn of the century and Apple came out with the hugely successful iMac followed by the even bigger iPod success around that time. This made Apple a huge competitor again. And after the huge success of Pixar (which Steve Jobs co-founded and Apple still has some loose ownership in), they could afford buying Microsoft out and soaring away.

Look at those Apple v. PC commercials. It really is Apple vs. Microsoft/Windows. And the response was Bill Gates sponsoring huge counter commercials trying to make Apple look like elitists with those commercials and their products (bad year to take a culture war to anything, it turned out).

All competitors dislike competition, if not in theory, then in personal practice. But it is truly personal between Microsoft and Apple, though.

Hmm, I actually didn't know that, but I knew that they had a story past and one would love to just wipe the other off the chalkboard. Almost sounds like Apple is 'the one that got away' so to speak

Explain. The only similarities they have is they're both very isolated companies. Past that, they're pretty different. Especially in consumer value.

I hardly see the difference. Both overcharge because they can and dont really have any superior abilities, they just look slick and seem to appeal mostly to idiots who like to waste money on feeling trendy. Neither really have decent gaming experiences either.

Apple..and Nintendo?

What companies are you talking about. For the record, while PCs are far superior for writing code and traditional computer programming, Apple has cornered the market in design oriented personal computers. Go to any magazine, newspaper or publishing firm and all publications are designed and created on Apples and Mac OS X's superior software in that department and Apple has run away with video/film editing thanks to their semi-alliance with Final Cut Pro and tailor-fitting it to Apple, as well as music software, etc.

So, both Apples and PCs are quite good computers, depending on what you want to do. For actual accounting and programming, the PC is better. For design, editing, etc. an Apple is better. Everything in between (Internet, word, etc.) is pretty much even, depending on which operating system you prefer and the longevity of a machine. Gaming is a strength to PC, but since I only use consoles, I don't really care.

Apple would make a console that does nothing more than the Wii, but it would have a touch interface instead of buttons, and be slightly smaller. They would then charge $800 for it, and people would say it's a huge innovation and the best thing ever, because people are god damn idiots.

Apple's innovation has never been with introducing new ideas. They've simply found great methods in revolutionizing existing concepts and foundations. The iPhone is a perfect example. Touch screens have been around forever, but it wasn't until the iPhone came out that it became a big factor in everyday gadgets. Simply because it wasn't until this device that melded responsive touchscreens with intuitive user interfaces. You can even see this within their OS.

People need to stop ragging on Apple for their successes in technologies that other companies couldn't flourish in. It is of no question that most of what Apple has accomplished these past few years are from pre-existing technologies and ideas. But what is put on paper isn't necessarily translated with the actual product. Which is why touchscreens haven't been popular until now, despite several gadgets utilizing the tech. Apple simply copied what others were doing...and implemented it much better.

If they want to apply this to the gaming world, then so be it. We should all welcome competition. It keeps rival companies on their toes.

yeah, I'll check out an Apple console. Why not?
