Apple releases the iPhone: anyone getting it?

Cisco Systems owns the TM on the name... so they'll either have to purchase the trademark or change the name...

It doesn't have a video camera, it sucks.

Apple is going one step backward. They're stupid.

Yeah, they're missing that feature, but it's a first generation phone, so I'll give them a pass. Plus they're putting a lot of things in it that no other phone has.

Anyone see the keynote at Apple's website? Pictures do not do this phone justice. Seeing it used live is f'n amazing.

jag would love this... I wish he was here. The Hype seems... different without him :csad:

I might pick one of these up when my current mp3 player breaks and they work out all the inevitable bugs in this iPhone.

I already have a phone, and I already have a Zune, so I have no need for this :o

how do you like the zune?

and no I'm not picking it up and I don't need those features, I dont get that many calls anyway, and I could never pay that much for a phone I just got a Motorola V360 for 240 (no contract) and it still felt like a lot to me

Damn..... that's pretty cool.... but it's gonna be scratch and smudge galore to anyone eating chicken-wings......

Looks cool, but I don't think I would be geting one, as I am fine with what I already have.

No thanks.

When it has..

3G support
30 gigs or more
and a price tag that won't rape your wallet.

then maybe I'll buy one.

okay... I already have a phone that holds up to ten hours of music, takes pics and video, has fully programmable alarms, can record audio, tuner, guitar chord dictionary and metronome amongst a whole lot of other functions

do I need another phone that has basically the same applications but more expensive?

Also, didn't the first I-Pod have a ton of problems. Maybe people should really wait for the 2nd Generation I-Phone. Also, I have Verizon and I'm not looking to switch.

No thanks, I'm upgrading my Blackberry to the Blackberry Curve (or whatever it will be called) when it's released for T-Mobile.

My cell service is with Verizon and I'm in no big hurry to switch. Cingular/AT&T customers in my area do nothing but b1tch about dropped calls, static, being unable to find a connection, etc. That alone deters me from picking up an iPhone at the moment. Plus, they haven't announced the service plans for the iPhone yet, and I have a feeling they are going to be brutally expensive. The iPhone is an amazing device; so much more than a phone or even a Blackberry (it's a full blown, fully functional computer). But the exclusive pairing with AT&T is enough to make me stay away for the time being until the bugs are worked out, the Cingular service in my area improves and the service plans aren't horrendously steep. The device is going to be a smash hit without my money, anyway, so there will be more iterations of the device to come. It pains me to say as a die-hard Mac Zealot, but I'm going to wait awhile.

It's very cool. The integration of all the functions of the phone, not to mention the way they are executed, is what sets it apart from everything else on the market. There truly is not a device like this anywhere else. The phone is the least of it's functions. Like all new consumer electronics, I'm sure there's a bug or two left in it. At least it's not a Microsoft phone, though. THAT would have some serious bugs in it. :D

There's an iPhone Guided Tour that's worth watching if anyone's interested in seeing how the thing really works.

You dont really need to see pictures,go onto the internet and check out songs on your phone.

Yesterday's article from yahoo was better. it provided a constructive counter-point to the obvious "YES" reasons for buying it....I've got a link I'll grab off of facebook, but FB has been offline today for some reason??
