Apple releases the iPhone: anyone getting it?

Everyone has to have the latest when it comes out...PS3, iPhone, etc. Then when they get it, disappointment sets in.

I got the PS3 and have not really played on it because I am too lazy too.

I was just wondering anyone know if the Iphone will be made available internationally. I am gettting a new phone and might as well get that one.

The rumor is that the iPhone will be made available in Europe on Monday. No idea if it's true or not, though.

Here's that link I was looking for.

The only semi-valid point she raises is that the device is first generation. The rest of her reasons have either already been addressed or are just minor quibbles, to be honest. It reads like she's just looking for any reason at all to knock the device, even though she obviously hasn't even touched one (the early reviews of the device have been far and away stellar). Keep in mind that Microsoft floats money under the table to A LOT of web "journalists" to write stuff like this, too. Not saying she's one of them, but I always read stuff like this with a grain of salt because it's pretty obvious there's an agenda going on behind the words.

I'm still planning to hold off on the iPhone for the time being, mostly because it is a first generation device and I'd rather see what other interesting features they add down the road. I've got other things to spend my money on at the moment, anyway.

I'm looking seriously at this.....looks very cool....but I want to make sure it doesn't have any major bugs with it...

I've got a phone, I've got an iPod and I have no interested in surfing the web on a tiny portable device. Think I'll save the $600 for something I'm actually interested in.

While the iPhone looks cool, it's totally unecessary. I really don't need any of those features. Hell, I really don't need a cell phone. I just need fifty cents (or whatever the going rate for a pay phone is right now) in my pocket. But I do have a cell phone (a crappy one, btw). Plus, I already have an iPod so I don't need another one.

It's not a matter of necessity. It's a matter of desire. A consumer buys an ipod because they want one. not because they need it. Same with a cell phone. the only thing anyone really -needs- is food and water. Might even be dependant on your working life or your family needs. But honestly, who here -needs- a video game system? For what? to do homework on?

An iPhone is a GREAT product to procure for yourself, not because of it being NEEDED. But because it's just a great device to have. Exactly why I just got mine. lol.

Honestly the biggest flaw isnt even the storage space. The iPhone's biggest feature is real time internet browsing using Macintosh's Safari, but the thing is, it uses an old Data network that is well know for being kinda slow on the go, so it may be a bit sluggish. As well as it's storage capacity it could be bigger for a phone with so many features but all in due time.

Hell it even has high dense scratch resistant glass as it's touch screen. Not plastic. -Glass-. This thing is my best purchase since the 360.

Man, if I hadn't spent all my money on this new Macbook I'd have enough for a damn iPhone :(

You spent your money on the right thing. Enjoy your MacBook.

I am. I figured it was time to replace the old Powerbook.

I upgraded my wife's TiBook to a MacBook. She loves it. I'm still running my Aluminum PB and my G5 Tower for the moment, though. They still run amazingly great, so I'm not in a huge rush.

There are still pay phones?!?! I don't think I've seen one for a number of years.

There was a video that was briefly on Apple's website that showed how to register an iPhone through iTunes for service. It showed them using an 80GB iPhone. It was quickly taken down. I'd say 2G of the device is going to be awesome.

Also, AT&T EDGE users started reporting a sudden massive gain in performance yesterday afternoon.

I'm thinking about running a Leopard Beta on the Macbook, just to try it out.

Yeah, my Aluminum PB still runs like the day I first turned it on. I've had a few computers in my time, and I've never been as happy with one as I am with this one.

Leopard is very sweet. I played with it for awhile on a buddy at works' test box. The Finder improvements are awesome and even the beta runs hella-fast. Install it on an external drive so you can just boot to it when you feel like it.

I'm with ya. I set my in-laws up with one of the original charcoal colored CRT iMacs. I upgraded the memory and the hard drive and it's running Tiger to this day, fast and stable even after all the crap my Father-In-Law has done to the system in his explorations that would have crippled a PC by now. I set that up for them three years ago and haven't touched it since. My wife has run software update on it here and there when she visits them (they are on the other side of the country from us), but other than that it's run like a charm. We haven't even had to spend a lot of time on the phone with them telling them how to use it because it's so intuitive. The longevity on Macs and the ability for them to run the latest OS's for years on end is amazing.
