Screenname of the Proposed RPG’s Game Master: Master Bruce

Do You Have An Instant Messenger that we can reach you on for better conversation? (i.e MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ect.) And if so, what is your screenname?: allstarbatman - YIM, [email protected] - MSN

Gamemasters/Assistant Gamemasters already chosen: Byrd Man will provide Beat Cop (AGM) duties, respectively.

How will the overall layout of the RPG be?: The RPG will be ongoing, going on the standard season-by-season basis, in the form of 'Chapters'. It will be player guided, with the GM's enforcing the nessecary rules and such. The ideal number of AGM's I'd like is three, so, if you're into this, express interest in a position on the force.

Premise of RPG:

This concept is both an answer to the long stemming interest in noir toned, hard boiled crime stories, and my own personal desires to see a successful Batman related RPG.

This will be a Gotham City RPG. No Metropolis, no Coast City... none of that. This will be strictly Gotham, and it's various characters from over the years of Batman lore. Loosely based and heavily influenced on the continuity of Batman Begins, what little we know of it's upcoming sequel, The Dark Knight, and the Ed Brubaker/Michael Lark run of Gotham Central, this RPG provides the opprotunites to tell the stories of Gotham's unique and colorful characters in a grittier, realistic fashion and flare, with players allowed to pick from four different classes of character: Gotham Guardian (ex: Batman, Harvey Dent, Dinah Lance), Law Enforcer (ex: James Gordon, Crispus Allen, Renee Montoya), Mafia Don (ex: Carmine Falcone, Salvatore Maroni, Rupert Thorne), and Rule Breaker (ex: The Joker, Catwoman, Bane). Players are allowed to build and expand upon these characters in any way they please, keeping in mind that this RPG is built for more character storytelling than superpowered fistfights.

While this RPG is centered on one character's universe, Gotham City doesn't have to be a dwelling overruled by The Batman. Being based off of the Begins continuity, Gotham's Dark Knight is less than two years into his legendary career. This allows for others to be given the spotlight, in the rise to the Caped Crusader's war on criminality and corruption. Be you a hero or villain, you are given the chance to take part in the fate of a city devided by crime, corruption, hopelessness, and heroism. This RPG will be unlike any other, as it focuses solely on the darker and realistic aspects of a costumed world seemingly gone mad. There are no Supermen to save the citizens of Gotham, and in some cases, even it's mysterious inexperienced protector may be unable to answer the call of the need.

It's up to you to defend your city.

What will this RPG bring to the RPG forums? (please write two complete sentences): The RPG, as said, gives players a chance to really drop the norm of a superhero RPG, and play something that focuses on character development first. If you've read Gotham Central, you'll see the type of stories I'm talking about. Gritty, in your face stories about ordinary people, trying to survive as comic book fictional chaos transpires around them. This game will be dealt more in an urban reality.

I don't want this to be a Batman RPG. I want it to be a Gotham City RPG, featuring Batman in a role equal to the other characters. He will have a clear prescence, yes, but this is more about the city itself, and it's various citizens.

I'm tempted to play the Joker, so I'll see how much interest there is here.

I'll keep that in mind.

By the way, before anyone asks, yes, Batman/Bruce Wayne has been claimed. By Byrd Man. Aswell as Dinah Lance by twylight, with me debating between Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent.

You willingly gave up BATMAN?! :wow:

Oh, I'm in! I'm Bane, no question! I really wanna expand on his origin more and everything.

Hrmm....so this is pretty much an entirely Batman-centered version of Ultimate DC then? Not to be a wet blanket, but what exactly is there that can't be done with the already existing game?

*reads carefully*

No. :down :nono:

Bloody hell..two Iron Man smilies..o_O That's ridiculous....you get the CS smilies edited out and I'll pass this RPG. :o :cwink:

Take it up with Hunter. He added them.

*Has gone insane with the number of new smilies*

Maybe, maybe. I'm in enough RPG's as it is, but this certainly has potential.

I'd like to think it more accurately related to a Batman Begins RPG, simply because it's stricter on the level of fantastical elements that UDC is, aswell as the number of 'normies' that would be allowed for play.

Oddly enough, your depicition of Crispus Allen in the DC RPG was one of the many inspirations behind this.

 Sounds awesome. When I read the title I was instantly reminded of Gotham Central, which if you haven't read yet do so right now.

My feelings exactly.

Although when MB uses the term 'Batman Begins RPG,' it pushes me more and more towards the 'yes' side of the fence. :woot:

EDIT: To Hell with it, I'm in. It certainly has interest, and I'd love to try a character like the Joker for a change.

Yeah, like I said earlier, I wanna take this opportunity to make Batman a character, not a 2D villian. I know he had SOME story, but I wanna make you all sob when you read about his history (Okay, maybe not SOB, but feel really sorry for him).

:huh::grin:

That is the freakiest smiley ever. Far out man!

He's also a cold, calculating schemer who thrives to prove himself the greatest on the human warrior foodchain, which was his prime motivation in Knightfall behind breaking Batman's back.

Of course, DC seems to have forgotten that, in recent years. :csad:

But not much backstory......
I meant that you put 'Batman,' not 'Bane.'

:cwink:
Oh, oops, lol.

They've forgotten a lot...

I'll consider that a compliment. Thanks.

This makes me want to reread Gotham Central.
