April O'Neil reports...or assists scientists...Discussion here

Reporter with the sexy yellow jumpsuit. I hated the new cartoon's version of her. She looks like she just came out of highschool. The 80's cartoon least showed she was a woman.

Yes, too bad she looked like one of those types of women from the late 70's, early 80's that burned they're Bra and started blaming men for all the world's trouble. She looks like a young Germaine Greer (a really old feminist who still claims it's all mens fault.... whatever it is).

April shouldn't look like a dork.

Eh...I dunno. I tend to prefer smart, independant women to dumb broads who can't even spend 25% of their screen time without getting kidnapped.

Assuming that April is based off her live action version then she is still with Channel 6 as a reporter, since the movie is supposed to follow the 1st and 2nd live action movies.

What i guess we'll have to wait and see is why she is a ninga
as i work at Toys R Us and the only version ive seen of April is her in a Ninga outfit....poor April what have they done to you

Only thing I do not agree with the new movie. In that they will not have April as a reporter. She will be running the antique shop, and if they have a sequel to this new movie, they are supposedly setting it up that April will be going to school to become a scientist.

I personally prefer the 80's April as opposed the new toon. And April has a tendency of getting kidnapped and get into trouble just as much in the new toon as the old toon. Ever see Insane in the Membrane. I mean, jeesh, she was kidnapped like 3 times in the same episode!

From the looks of things she's a fighter now too. Figures, Sarah Michelle Gellar is playing her.

I hope she doesn't jinx the movie with her Happily N'ever After luck.

Well if she's been hanging out with the Turtles for this long she was bound to pick up some moves.

So to make a TMNT in this day in age, for one the direcotr knows that the older audience grew up on the Sat Morning cartoon. Not to mention that he is taking the first 2 movies of the live action series as part of his films history.

Then in what WHAT world does he think fans will respond in a positive way to having their Favorite Channel 6 reporter 1) Not be a reporter 2) Have ninga skills

The turtles look great, splinter looks great though im not crazy bout the voice actor.

BUT everyones favorite Kid wet dream APRIL they crushed.....and still no explanation as to why.

I could have easily accepted April as a reporter by day and ninga by night, the girls needs self defense in NYC afterall.

Why keep going back to original source material April when the original version didnt catapult April O'neil, the cartoon show version did.

That jumpsuit was unzipped awfully low. :wow:

I grew up with her in the yellow jacket as a reporter in the cartoon and first two movies

I really don't like or buy her as a ninja that can fight like Buffy.

Munroe's not doing it for the older fans who worship their "childhood memories" only. He's doing for all, that means those who are the older fans of the comics like himself, where she wasnt linked to reporting(except for a nod or 2 to the toon at the time)

Yeah. That episode was a bit in an in-joke for people who knew about the old comic origin for April.

Actually, the episode was based on the comic of it from '86(i think was the year it came out, would have to check). April's 'true' origin wasn't told until last year in 2006.

I like her best as Stockman's former assistant and now antique shop owner. Gives her a better connection to the turtles through Don since they can discuss science together very well.

I'm a pretty hardcore TMNT fan myself but to be honest, I don't mind this change at all.

April as a reporter never did anything for me to begin with...so making her a antique shop owner/ninja for me at least makes her much more interesting.

Plus I mean, its only natural she'd learn how to fight from the Turtles and Casey after all this time. Nice to know she can defend herself instead of falling into "Lois Lane" syndrome...

Hey, at least she didn't look like this in the cartoons.
