Aquaman's Critical Reception Thread (Rotten Tomato and Metacritic)

Do you think Critics are being too harsh on Aquaman? Do you agree with some?

After witnessing first hand how amazing, mind blowing, grandiose and entertaining this movie was... I feel free from rt, metacritic and all that. To me, it truly doesnt matter anymore. Trailers made a promise, and the film fulfilled it. I cant wait for everyone to see it!!
But isn't that always the case AFTER you've seen a film? :D Once you've seen it, you've seen it. You know whether you liked it by then regardless of if the rest of the world has the opposite opinion. I mean I totally agree, I just think it goes without saying. :cwink:

Or they know something we don’t about the next batch of reviews... man, Sneiders comments on Collider are keeping me on edge...

Eh I wouldn't sweat it. Not much you can do about it anyways.

Hahah, yeah but sometimes i overanalyze it when me and rt dont agree. I spend too much time thinking about why, and whos right, when i know there is no right, its subjective.
And i would rely on it too much, i think, allowing it to raise or lower my expectations/excitement. It really doesnt sound healthy XD

Sneider is an egomaniac who needs all the professional help he can get. And Collider as a whole is just not what it used to be. A bunch of people thinking they are way more important than they really are.

you people care so much about rotten tomatoes its actually pretty sad,all theses critics typin nonsense, some off them trashin Some movies just for the fun off it

all we should care is the audience score & u own opinion,

the only people you can trust in this is someone like chris stuckmann, wait for his review ,that's it

That is what i always say, sites like rt, imdb, etc are irrelevant, they do not reflect the quality of a movie at all, just what *some* people thought of it, and i doubt that most of those people got it right.
You can find high scores for bad movies and low ones for good movies, if it is not somebody who usually gets it right with review, i would not trust them.

It’s less about the influence of the critics score on my own opinion and more about the overall narrative regarding the fate of the DCEU. Critical success really does contribute to that narrative.

I want the story to be “Holy Crap, Aquaman is AWESOME” from everyone, much like it was with Wonder Woman. I don’t want it to be about how the DCEU is going down in flames, which is what the dominant feeling was after the release of all the other DCEU movies. For better or for worse, critic reviews have a part in that.

All I needed to hear.

Rock on. Seeing this bad boy in 2 days.

Not to mentions some movies that have mediocre or average reviews sometimes go on to be nominated for awards. like "The Theory of Everything" and "American Sniper" both films got RT scores in the 70s but ended up being nominated for best picture at the academy awards. I feel pretty confident that we are going to stay in the mid-70s in RT score. And we should all be happy with that because that will be good enough to not affect the hype that the GA will have for it already. Quite frankly the GA will be satisfied as long as its fresh period.

Keep in mind that if it falls below 70% even after it gets CF, it loses it automatically. So if the wave is coming like Sneider said, it can't be preempted.

I think we need to let what Sneider said go. It's disproved by the fact that most of the "main" publications have already released their reviews and they're listed on RT (Variety, Hollywood Reporter, etc.).

That's not to say negative reviews aren't coming - but Sneider is talking poop and is put out he wasn't invited to a screening (ie, he can't be excluded just because he didn't merit an invite, he has to be part of some sort of upper echelon of critics who are too high-minded for this film).

People need to calm down. Certification isn’t 100% necessary anyways. Plus there’s going to be about 300 more reviews counted. It could drop more or even go up by a few points. It’s likely to stay in the “fresh” range, 70s, which considering DCs previous efforts is a win.

He might end up right. Lots of reviews are set to come. Just not worth worrying about anymore.

I might not even look again til after I see it.

It probably wouldn’t be that if Sneider didn’t say a ****ing thing.
we're reaching 100 reviews and we're still most likely going to be in the mid-70s yet somehow everyone thinks some pompous glorified internet troll is in cahoots with 200 other critics and knows what they're feeling. Even though there is plenty of evidence that shows he does not always fall in line with RT consensus. If he spoke to anyone at all it was about 10 critics at most. Yall really need to relax.

Actually I am counting 68/23 74.8%

This is what mine says:

Really hate how RT doesn't sync up the same for everyone, never know if I'm ahead or behind.
