That one's good. So are the Tales of the Jedi series, which revolves around the era before, and leading up to the events in, KOTOR.

More recent good titles would be the Clone Wars series.

anything with tag and bink is worth your time.

But the books is where the expanded universe is at. Start with the thrawn trilogy to get your hooked than start chronologically with 'the truce at bakura'.

and for the love of god, stop before the new jedi order starts.

Actually, the New Jedi Order series are not that bad. It started well, then it became a bit boring with stagnated storyline for a few books, then picked up the pace and became good again until the defeat of the Yuuzhan Vong. The New Jedi Order is very visceral, with quite a few of notable deaths and ravaged planets. Most people hate the celebrity deaths, but hey, it quite naturally sucks when someone we care about dies anyway. But it adds to the realism and the gritty and emotional feel of the series. The NJO series is when the Force was truly challenged.

AFTER THAT you stop.

but you need to ask yourself what is your favourite part of star wars.

Is it the epic civil war with the force as a cool back story, or is it the legend of the jedi played at the same time as other galactic events.

I was always more interested in the space side of things, the war between these huge armies on a thousand different fronts, the criminal underworld, political intrigue and of course....wedge.

When the books focus primarilly on the force side of things they get a bit out there and dont have the same bang as the movies (see children of the jedi an darksaber as examples...children has a story mostly revolving around luke and a force spirit, whereas dakrsaber is about a hutt crime lord who gets his hands on a death star laser and and imperial army not bent on conquest, but on desrtuction. and it also has a lot of cool jedi stuff.)

So I think i might try and hijack this thread. Any EU fans out there? Whats your favourite books? Characters?

Best Books
1. I, Jedi
2. han Solo trilogy
3. Thrawn Trilogy
4. X-wing series

Best characters
1. Wedge....come on, he is the man.
2. Talon Karrde
3. Grand Admiral Thrawn

I actually have the first 2 issues about Exar Kunn.

Jolee Bindo hasnt........

Revan's apperances : from wookiepedia
Shadows and Light (Vision to Duron Qel-Droma)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (First appearance)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords (Vision to Jedi Exile)

so i guess the answer would be pretyty much no, all of what we know is based on the games, and that's not alot.

Its about the Best Wars of Onderin that you hear about in KOTOR

I'd disagree. The Dark Nest Trilogy sucked a lot, but it had a couple important plot points that will carry on for a long time. The first book in the Legacy Era, Betrayal, was really great. And the Star Wars: Legacy comic series looks like it's going to be really good.

We talked about it before in this thread

I guess a sequel trilogy will never be made because it wold interfere with the books and with Star Wars Legacy where the Sith return......

oh well the chances of a sequel trilogy was rare and the movies we have are good so ok.

That wouldn't matter. If Lucas wanted to make another trilogy he'd just ignore the books. He stated many time that he doesn't follow the expanded universe and it doesn't really affect how he makes movies.

It tried telling that to my friend one time but he insists that Lucas wrote every little thing about Star Wars.

double post

I dont insist that, but alot of people love (i hate them) the books and comics and so forth adn making a movie would incinirate them from cannon if he does not follow them alot of Star Wars would not have happened...

a sequel triogy wouldnt even make sense because the sith have been defeated, adn the movies are about Anakin Skywalker but he is dead....

Well, in the off-chance that Lucas will actually listen to the fans of EU (which would be around the same time Scarlet Johannson agrees to sleep with me), a sequel might work if it's done waaaaaaay after the books. Perhaps one or two generations after.

Star Wars Legacy

Plus its only two issues in, art is surprisingly good.

Infinities (If you like what ifs)
Legacy is pretty good so far.
Star Wars Republic is pretty good too(It takes place during the Clone Wars).

If you want to read books then I suggest:
The Whole Thrawn Trilogy
Anything with Rogue Squadron in it.
Out of the NJO, these are my favorites: Vector Prime, Traitor(my favorite one), The Unifying Force, and and the two Enemy Lines books.
Skip the Dark Nest books, and go right into Betrayal.

One comment, though: Dark Empire is way overrated.

The official Lucasfilm stance on the EU is that it's canon unless it directly contradicts a movie anyway. So if Lucas ever did make a third trilogy, he's already built in the understanding that whatever the movie gives you is the official, gospel truth, and whatever it f***s up with the EU just doesn't matter anymore.

There is this non-canon story circa 16 BBY where Darth Maul, who somehow survived Theed and was fitted with cybernetics lower torso and legs, engaged in a revenge duel with an aged Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine.

Is that from a comic? If so, which one?

I pray to God that Lucas doesn't make a sequal triliogy. Vader redeemed himself. The Sith are done with (until Legacies). Leave it at that please.

I'd agree except the Yuuzhan Vong sound like they would be awesome on screen.
