These are probably two of the key shows from my childhood.

Searching through youtube I found a couple of the old episodes online and they're still (at least 'Are you Afraid of the Dark', haven't gotten to 'Goosebumps') great shows. Okay, maybe not scary any more but still great camp fire stories and a great source of nostalgia.

The key episodes that I remember is the pinball episode in 'Are you afraid of the dark', and the green mask episode in 'Goosbumps'

So, just wondering what you guys think of the show and what episodes you remember most?

Also, the following AYAOTD episode inspired the film 'The Sixth Sense':

They oldest male from Are You Afraid of the Dark is now a weather forecaster for The Weather Channel in Canada.

I never got into Are you Afraid of the Dark, but I loved Goosebumps! I also enjoyed the R.L. Stine books and was also a fan of the Fear Street series.

I remember in 2000/2001, Tim Burton, was in talks to direct a Goosebump adaptation. Too bad it never happened. :csad: I think FOX, which owned the rights, talked Burton into doing Planet of the Apes remake instead.

Both shows were awesome, but Are You Afraid of the Dark was the more genuinely scary one. I was never really all that scared by Goosebumps, but I usually liked their stories better.

Eerie Indiana, now there was a show that deftly combined both.

I was already in middle school by the time these shows premiered. So, I was never scared by them. So...I guess I preferred Goosebumps cause the stories were more creative!

Yea, Eerie Indiana, was awesome! But I wouldn't call it scary. More like creepy.

Are You Afraid of the Dark was better at creeping me out but I enjoyed Goosebumps' twist endings more.

Ah, I saw these shows as a kid, so they'd often freak me the **** out.

True, it was more creepy than scary. Still, it was one awesome show. Too bad it had such a short run.

Goosebumps was awesome, are you afraid of the darky was oookay.

Plus I always remember the intro to Goosebumps as a kid scareing the **** out of me.

Turns out they had some major, long running plot ideas for some of the characters that never panned out because it got cancelled.

i absolutly loved are you afraid of the dark. i wish it ws still on

Yep, which pisses me off.

It's so sad when children's entertainment that has actual talant and testicular forditude behind it gets the shaft for cheap, easy to make crap. But it happens almost every time.

Are You Afraid of the Dark was awesome. I wouldn't watch it until my best friend forced me to one day, but after that I was hooked. My favorite episode was the one with the movie Nosferatu character coming out of the film and stalking two movie theater ushers.

I just watched night of the living dummy 3 with Hayden Christensen:o and watching as the height changes of the dummy when he starts moving is comic gold!!! Thanks for making me laugh at something that frightened me 10 years ago:yay:

The only thing that sucked about Goosebumps was that sometimes they made too many changes from the books. I remember the 'Monster Blood' episode being very different from the book.

I definitely preferred Are You Afraid of the Dark, but I enjoyed Goosebumps just for the fact that I had actually read one of the books, and it was cool to see it become an episode.

The only Goosebumps episode I remember clearly was one where a girl bought a creepy-looking mask for her Halloween costume. Only it wouldn't come off. :o

That was the one! "The Haunted Mask". There was a sequel, as I remember.

It's the only one I can remember. Probably because it was the most spookiest for me. :o

The Haunted Mask was both the best book AND episode! Plus, FOX aired the episode on prime time!

That one and the one about some fat kid with a magic remote are the only ones I remember.

I preferred A.Y.O.T.D? over Goosebumps.
