Which was more well written? Which was actually compelling? Which was actually scary?

Since there seems to be a sort of revival of Goosebumps on Cartoon Network I thought I would tune in and having digital cable, I get a little description when I watch a show and the little info to match the series is:
"Distinguished horror anthology series based on the kid-lit best sellers by R.L. Stine"

Distinguished eh? I dunno about all of that. To me, Are You Afraid of the Dark was superior hands down...while the acting was about the same, it's effects still linger. I swear, I hear the music now and fear already starts to well up within me and I'm like turn it the heck off!

Are You Afraid of the Dark was better in every way , i was hopin they would of done this for goosebumps but that didnt happen .

They should totally revive Are You Afraid Of the Dark, it was miles ahead of Goosebumps.

Never really cared for both shows, but if I had to pick I would say that Are You Afraid of the Dark was the better written show.

Goosebumps was just lame.

Is there even a question? Are You Afraid of the Dark by miles.

They should revivie Are You Afraid of the Dark?

they did a while back...it had the main guys little bro from it as the new main guy, and all new storytellers, and sucked enourmous amounts of c**k...

the original AYAOTD was awesome though :o

They should improve upon it rather than taking a step back!

Goose Bumps had the cheesiest and corniest so called horror stories I've ever heard. I liked it when I was 10, but looking back on it I wonder how even kids find this entertaining or scary.

I watched a little of Goosebumps last night. The part that still scares the **** out of me during the opening credits when the ghostly G goes past the dog, his eyes turn yellow, and the song goes into a barking version of itself. WTF.

Yeah, both of their respectful theme songs still scare the **** out of me. The actual shows not so much but Are You Afraid Of The Dark was definately better written. Although I admit that as a kid both shows gave me nightmares. Slappy, that giant wolf in the woods *shudders*.

are you afraid of the dark was milies better than goosebumps.

the goosebumps books were badly writen and crap to begin with. are you afraid of the dark had nothing to live up to and thus won. plus it was WAY cooler...kids in the middle of nowhere telling stories around a campfire...the dust in the campfire bit...all very cool

Does anyone remember The Tale of the Ghastly Grinner?
That influenced me to by one of those giant erasers!

"Are you afraid of the dark?" was greatness.

Acronyms are lame.

Goosebumps was great to read, but Are You Afraid of the Dark was easily the better show.

i dont think anyone would say otherwise. they had cooler shows back then , the stuff people are watching on there now looks terrible.

Gotta admit. AYAOTD kept me up at night as a kid. Goosebumps made me angry.

okay, if i had to choose. i will say that it is AYAOTD. I just wish they'd bring this series to dvd. They have for canadians. But not for US yet. Wouldn't it sell if they released 'em on dvd to the public.
