Comics Are you ready for the SECOND COMING of the Mutant Messiah?

The lull in action was the point. It's a twelve-chapter story. This is pretty much the exact middle, and coming off heavy action with a big in-the-middle-climax.

It's a pretty tried-and-true piece of formula, even in mindless-action summer blockbuster movies.

Its not the middle. There are 14 chapters. We still have a full 2 months to go (8 chapters left) with this running into early July

So I was off by two issues. Chapter 6 is still, thereabouts, the mid-way point. It's common for there to be a lull in the action of a high-paced story if coming off a large rising action with a big payoff.

Doesnt make it anymore interesting. It just seemed off that they would take the time out to have funeral in the middle of this thing. Considering the seriousness of the situation and the fact taht they are being tracked and attacked, there are more pressing matters. Kurt just died and already he has a funeral that very same day? I really felt they should have waited especially since there will be more to come.

Oh and how the hell do they know to go to limbo to get Magik?

Or she got pulled into an anime dimension.

...but she's not underaged, so I think she's safe from getting raped.

It was some spell that Bastion's people chanted though. Why would they assume he had the power to banish her there (where she is sorceroress and ruler) Really she could be anywhere

Shuma Gorath isn't into hentai :o

Hope told them. Hooray, she's good for something :whatever:

So instead of waiting and doing the funeral, you'd have had them waiting and doing nothing? Because you didn't really bring up an alternative there.

Interesting is a subjective thing. Again, subjective value never indicates worth or value of a piece. Great. You didn't like it. This is new. That doesn't mean it was wrong. Nor does it mean it was poorly done.

Just like an author cannot bore the reader with endless cliff-hanger endings to the chapters of a book, a story cannot keep up with a ceaseless pace to its action. When coming off a climbing point, a lull in action is necessary. It then becomes a matter of whether the narrative uses that lull in action well or not. Second Coming has. Everyone's together, Cyclops is calling for a defensive gameplan, and they've just met someone who matters very much to them. It is entirely fitting, for the narrative and the fictional characters within, to attempt to seal off the hurt that would accompany the death - especially while there is nothing else they could be doing, given that their plan is to sit pretty and wait for the attack to come, and while they're still gaining information about the bad dude.

Do you actually understand the concepts of story fabulation and narrative structure?

And please, like you wouldn't be complaining an equal amount had there been no funeral. Then the complaints would be about why something like this didn't happen, and it figures all the characters would forget about him, because the writers always have. Blah blah blah. Do I have about the right of that?

How about do what they are doing in the next story here? The next chapter deals with Vansiher and Domino finally entering the story. That could have happened here. Really nothing happened in #524 that couldnt have been condensed to a few pages. Nothing pushed the story forward and there were no new revelations. All we got was Pierce spying but that was already revealed in the last chapter.

Did I say it was? If you missed the very first comment I said about the book was that it was an overall decent issue. I liked it. I just criticized on an aspect of it that I would have preferred had been handled differently. The issue wasnt bad at all on its own, but when held in context with the rest of the crossover, it kinda pales in comparison, at least thats how I feel.

Im not complainign that Kurt got a funeral. I just dont think it should have happened this early. It could and should have waited till AFTER the crossover was done. Ive never seen an X-men story where they've stopped in the middle of a story to give a funeral. That is usually reserved for an epilogue and when the drama has died down.

Can I just say I felt the Beast highlight was the best part of the issue? Someone needed to kick Cyclops in his nuts?

I felt it was out of place an inapproprirate. He throws that comment right in the middle of a funeral procession. I thought that was kinda disrespectful to Kurt. Dont get me wrong, Scott deserves for people to call him out on his shadyness, complete with the lies and deceit, but that was the wrong place and wrong time for him to do so.

I think Hank may be feeling a bit guilty, bc instead of saying anything, he kept his secrets and ran away. Now he may feel, maybe had he said something about X-force, his suspcisions and his confrontation with Scott, Kurt's death may have been avoidable. He'll never know. As of now, Scott is the only person he can lash out at so he did it,

This issue made me feel sorry for Hope. Everyone's putting everything on her, and she has no idea why. As far as she knows, there is absolutely nothing special about her, but all this pressure is on her shoulders. People have been killing and dieing for her since the day she was born, but why? I mean, as soon as they saw Kurt's body, the first thing she heard was someone* telling her to bring him back. That's a f***ed up situation.

*Who the hell was that? It was apparently a blonde wearing a dark and yellow costume. It wasn't Emma. It wasn't Dazzler, because she was standing on the other side near Northstar. Magik got dragged to Hell by "Hentai Tentakuru Reipa Monsta, DESU KA!" Was that Magma?

That was either Magma or a Cuckoo. Magma is the only blonde New Mutant left, but the Cuckoos have been drawn wearing that costume as well. Still I think Magma is the most likely candidate

He has that affect on women.

Oh yes, I went there. I so went cliche and went there.

Just finished Chapter 7.

Hope is easily the worst messiah ever. I really hate her, like maybe more than Emma and Dani

i think thats intentional. making you question why are the X-Men doing all this for her. it was great to see tensions starting to rise in this issue.
