Aronofsky's "mother!" (Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem)

Apparently this production will be in rehearsals for SIX WEEKS before beginning principal photography in June.

Intriguing stuff.
That's what makes me think it's gonna be like a stage play. Like for Steve Jobs they also rehearsed a lot and Kate Winslet compared the script with a stage play.

Think The Hateful Eight, Virginia Woolf, Carnage (by Roman Polanski), August: Osage County...

But I could be wrong.

what a bunch of haters in this thread jlaw is a phenomenal actress i cant wait to see what darren can get out of her

She is a great actress. I'll give you that. My beef isn't so much with her, but the producers and studio's that jam her into every part they can, even if she's clearly the wrong choice.

Marvolo Also regardless of what one might think of an actor/actress/professional, actively wishing failure on them is just sad and pathetic.

There are plenty of people that I don't care much for personally, but I don't actively root for them to fail.

I actively root for Zack Snyder to f*** off.

Oh, I didn't know Clint Mansell wasn't on this. Oh, well, Jóhannsson always does awesome work anyways.

Agreed...well with one exception: Tom Rothman. That man is a plague on Hollywood. A penny pinching hack. The faster Tom washes out and burns all bridges the better Hollywood and Sony will be .

Darren Aronofsky’s Mysterious Jennifer Lawrence Movie Is A Horror Film
The plot of Darren Aronofsky’s next film has largely been under wraps since it was announced — but this week’s CinemaCon convention, and an individual close to project that spoke to TheWrap, revealed the director is going back to “Black Swan” territory with his latest.

Aronofsky’s “mother!” will be a horror-thriller, and a star-studded one at that. Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem lead a cast that includes Michelle Pfeiffer, Domnhall Gleeson, Ed Harris and Kristen Wiig.

At this week’s annual convention of movie exhibitors, Paramount Domestic Distribution chief Kyle Davies let the cat out of the bag, promising “thrills and chills” from Aronofsky and company upon the film’s Halloween-season release.A second individual with close knowledge of the project confirmed Davies’ description is accurate — Aronofsky is flirting with the same psycho-horror that won Natalie Portman an Oscar for the unraveling ballerina she played in “Black Swan.”

“mother!” did have a vague synopsis floating around, described as: “A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.”

This is the first collaboration for real-life couple Aronofsky and Lawrence. Paramount will open the film wide on Oct. 13.

The filmmaker also wrote the script, and produces through his Protozoa Pictures. “Arrival” composer Jóhann Jóhannsson is on board for original score. Scott Franklin and Ari Handel are producers with Jeff G. Waxman on board as executive producer.

^ Thank goodness!

Aronofsky is one of the few directors working today that consistently makes great films--besides Noah. Requiem for a Dream followed closely by The Fountain are still my favorite films by him, but Black Swan is easily number 3, so I'm happy to see he's going to further explore the horror/psychological thriller genre. My only concerns is a star studded cast he's put together as well as the absence of Clint Mansell.

Given Michelle Pfeiffer's presence I'm actually leaning towards she and Bardem being "the couple."

I was thinking Pfeiffer and Harris.

Pfeiffer and Aronofsky talk a little about the film when he interviewed her for, um, interview:

ARONOFSKY: So, when you're reading a script—and, say, it's a great script that you know how to play right away—you're hearing the character in your head and know how to play it as you're reading it the first time?

PFEIFFER: Yes, and seeing it. The ones I get super excited about playing, yeah.

ARONOFSKY: And, of course, I'm going to make it about me: How did I do? [both laugh] When you were reading our script, did it make sense? Or you were like, "What the hell is this guy doing?"

PFEIFFER: I can't say I understood the script the first time.

ARONOFSKY: Oh, that's good.

PFEIFFER: Well, it's a little bit esoteric, right?

ARONOFSKY: Do you think? [laughs]

Darren Aronofsky posted this on his titter account today.
