Do you think JLaw found it random that they wanted to cast her as a seductive Mata Hari spy? She's aware of her sex symbol status and it being a huge factor in why she gets paid millions. I doubt she'd lose self-respect for herself if you told her that people on the internet were "excited" at the prospects of seeing her nude. If that were the case she probably wouldn't have done the film. I'd go out on a limb and say she might even be empowered at the thought. There is absolutely nothing wrong with appreciating beauty in it's various forms. The problem is people equating the appreciation of female beauty with valuing nothing else.

So, for some the only interesting thing about this movie is Jlaw being nude, one might say that is sexist and degrading toward the actress as you appreciate her only for her body regardless of her talent or the quality of the movie.
Fascinating considering the outrage occurring in Hollywood and social media about the view on women.

I was just trying to say that considering the current news and outrage toward the view on women in the movie industry and in general that it might be considered sexist ( ie : the actress talent is meaningless as long as she is nude ).

I didn't care for it or find it all that sexy either. But then again, I don't think most of it was supposed to be anyway since there are multiple scenes of attempted rape and violent acts against women.

Just came back from this. I have to say I really enjoyed it. It was a put together well story with good characters especially JLaw. She was really great. It wasn’t overly flashy and was actually quite intense and brutal in scenes. They didn’t make out like she’s some super spy who can take down everyone in her path, which I appreciated. My two friends and I left very happy. It was paced well with good tension. 8/10 for me.

Here's the basic gist of Red Sparrow.

It's basically a Black Widow origin story movie with the sensibility of The Bourne Identity...done very badly. Like it wants to be like Bourne Identity, it's just done very badly.

Caught a matinee due to getting out early, and it pretty much feels like Black Widow origin and Basic Instinct had a baby. And Jlaw has been doing her cardio and squats, that's all I'mma say about those...scenes.
