i really dont get the buzz surrounding this movie. it's a good movie but i expected more. portman delivered an incredible performance and her chances are good to win an oscar but that's it.

amazing film. nuff said.

portman deserves the oscar

Okay so I finished watching this a couple of seconds ago,and liked it alot. But I thought that the ending was ruined a little bit,the characters come off as too standard with their personalities( a minor nitpick),and the dialog sucks (a mild nitpick). The reveal of the complete transformation came too soon for my liking near the end,Portman and Mila's acting were great, and so was the music and cinematography. In the end I think that Nina had this Swanish/antangonistic side to her that lead the rest of her to insanity and her death, imo too much of it was trapped in her for so long and couldn't handle staying inside anymore.

8.5/10

The movie loses half a point because Nina revert's back to her normal look with makeup on.

I thought Natalie Portman was amazing (especially the scene where she calls her mother about getting the role ) and she deserves to get nominated. She embodies the role of both Swans . Also this is another great work at the hands of Aronofsky. The scenes of Nina's vulnerability are as good as the frightening descent into madness. I still have lasting images in my mind from this film and those are mainly the bathtub scene and when the girl attacks herself with a nail filer .

9/10

this was such a beautiful movie

some things did get me thinking like was Nina's mom real or was she in Nina's imagination?

she is not seen outside the apartment

Nina never answers her mom's calls around people

and when you think about it Nina's mom did a lot of things to make sure Nina failed

getting her a cake when she knows she cant gain weight

taking door knob off making sure she would'nt leave

calling out for Nina to make sure she did'nt make it opening night

did'nt wake her up when she knew she had be at the ballet

or maybe i am just thinking too hard on this subject or something lol

so Portman and Kunis have lesbian sex?

COUNT ME IN!

Yes, but that 2min clip can be found everywhere on the net now thanks to whoever leaked the screener.

It's not bad, but it looks like Mila's tattoo is moving on her back right?

She was real and you could see here at the premiere of the "Swan Lake" at the end, when Nina looked at the audience before she jumped on the mattress. Her mother's career as a failed ballerina was the influence toward Nina striving for perfection and that she was also suppressing the personality that Nina could have.

That's an interesting theory. I thought Nina imagined certain events but they were still grounded enough for some of it to be her reality . Also I don't think they would of left something like that ambiguous.

yeah true but this film has so much symbolism you never know lol

nina seeing her mom at swan lake premiere could of just been her vision

she could of been her imagination of what not to become

so much symbolism

Beth represents what Nina could of become - a woman who vyed for perfection too much that it consumed her life and tore her apart physically and mentally
Nina's mother represented what not to become - failed ballerina
Lilly - of course represented the black swan in which Nina had to become as she was weak by herself

the more i think about this film the more i love it this film left a lasting impression on me

I saw this movie and I was curious about it so I gave it a chance and man, I haven't been much of a fan of NP as I was almost 12 years ago but I really enjoyed this. The dark side of NP intrigued me and I knew she'd be able to pull it off and she did. The film itself was very well done and at the end of it, I was in shock. Like wtf did I watch? lols

Here's a fun question I haven't heard many people address:

Who wrote "****E" on the bathroom mirror?

Maybe Nina did it herself with the lipstick she stole from Beth and didn't realize she had(therefore we didn't see her do it either).

maybe it was the girl she told congratulations before finding out she got the part

It seems like something Nina would of done to herself but she probably thought the other girl did it.

I underestimated this film upon initial viewing . It does come brilliantly full circle so I look forward to seeing this again.

It was an incredible, affecting movie. I expect nothing less from Aronofsky (crosses fingers for The Wolverine).

He has yet to let me down.

I was semi-expecting a good but pretentious Oscar bait movie, but this was easily one of the most terrifying movies I've ever seen.

Lets see Black Swan huh?

Good film, but definitely NOT a Great film.

It is basically benefitting from being released so close to Awards season and riding that over hyped wave of films that get released during this time of year.

The best OVERALL films of the year for me are in no particular order:

True Grit
Inception
The Fighter
The Town
Toy Story 3

The Most Overrated films so far:

Black Swan
The Social Network

I thought The Town was only good, not great. I still need to see The Fighter.

It would be interesting to see Aronofsky do a horror film . Some of the scenes were startling .

I just got back from seeing this. I really enjoyed it! It's so nice to see Natalie Portman actually act. I strongly encourage anyone who has not see her outside of the Star Wars movies to see this and Brothers.

I gave it a 9/10 only because the shaky camera angles really started to make me sick by the end. Other than that...two thumbs way up!

Saw this movie yesterday. It was okay. Don't understand the hype though. Portman gave a great performance but other than that, meh.

Riveting tale, chap.

Then how come all the films released this time of year haven't gotten the same over-hype?
