Unbelievable video of host Adam Kokesh of Adam v. the Man actually being arrested by Park police in Washington D.C. over dancing at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. :wow: Not to mention they are also body slammed, choked, people with cameras then banned from in the building are kicked out for filming and had the entire memorial closed due to the arrest. What a massive violation of the First Amendment. Pass this video on if you can...

you shouldnt be arrested for dancing...but they were asking for it...and then theres a sign that says to be quiet and that guy was yelling like an idiot...guy in the glasses was hilarious though

I don't get it, what were they protesting?

I feel like I'm missing some context to this video. Someone explain to me please why they were there and why the cop didn't want them dancing,

Apparently they were protesting a recent court decision that...banned dancing at the memorial.

Why were people dancing at the memorial in the first place? Seems like an odd place to pop and lock.

I could understand dancing at the Reflecting Pool, but the Jefferson Memorial?

Meh. They were given warnings and still did what they did. I hope they enjoyed their jail time.

It started in 2008.

It was a springtime lark. April 2008, midnight. A group of about 20 young people descended upon the Jefferson Memorial and began quietly dancing to music -- music only they could hear with their earphones.
It was a flash dance and hardly anyone else was around, except the police.
U.S. Park Rangers and Police on duty were not amused or entertained. They started shooing the dancers away, telling them to disperse. An event organizer can be heard on amateur video trying to explain the dancers were celebrating Thomas Jefferson, the author of the nation’s Declaration of Independence. You know, freedom and all that.
The dance was supposed to last only 10 minutes, but it didn’t, and when it was over, one person had been arrested on misdemeanor charges of failing to follow police orders and interfering with operation of the memorial.
That one person, Mary Oberwetter, was served with papers. She went to court to fight the charge.
In papers filed by Alexandria attorney Alan Gura, she argued that the low-key dancing was protected free speech, surely allowed at the feet of Thomas Jefferson, of all places.
The suit also noted that routine groups of noisy school kids disrupt the quiet mood of the Jefferson far more than silent dancing.
The courts didn’t buy it.
They agreed with the U.S. Park Service that it has a duty to maintain “decorum” at the nation’s monuments and that any demonstrations, whether one person or many, are not allowed inside the nation’s memorials.
This week, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia firmly agreed.
It said that “expressive dancing falls within the spectrum of prohibited activities” and that “the Park Service has a substantial interest in promoting a tranquil environment at our national memorials.”
Case closed?
We’re not sure. The attorneys in the case and Oberwetter could not be reached for comment on whether they intend to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

I was under the impression that demonstrations, of any kind, at any of the memorials have to be ok'd by the Park Service

Yeah, this is why I love these videos. I mean, I don't think a No Dancing Ordinance is what brought this out. It seems like something more. But again, they purposefully went out and did something that wasn't allowed, were warned more than once, were told the consequences and they went ahead and did the running man all over the Jefferson Memorial. Then they proceed to be outraged and start yelling about America being a police state. This is why people have a hard time backing these people up.

People do stupid **** nowadays because of the principle of the thing. The mere fact that they are told they can't is the exact reason they do.

They just wanna dance!

I don't see how a law against dancing was even allowed to be passed. What is going on!

I don't think it's a "law against dancing", I think it's the ordinance that governs behavior at national memorials

I just think there are more important things to worry about than people dancing.

I'm sure there are more important things than jay walking, but hey there's laws against that too.

it IS the purview of the US Park Service, so it is their thing to worry about
