As of Sunday, Nintendo Wii at $199

^^ That's because that is where Nintendo makes their money besides hardware, with their first party titles. Plus, it is what sells their systems so they really don't have to lower the prices on those titles.

What pisses me off is that the Wii games are $60, the same as PS3 and 360 games.

Why wouldn't they be?

Also, am I the only one who finds the term "serious gamer" to be an oxymoron?

Because they aren't the same quality as the 360 or PS3. The third party developers have to compress and get rid of a lot of content to put their games on a Wii disc. Not only that, but the audio and visuals are sub par when compared to the PS3 and 360. The only thing that separates the Wii from last gen is the barely accurate Wii motion controller...yet they had that for Duck Hunt over a decade ago:o

Aren't games for the Wii only $50, as opposed to the $60 they charge for PS3 and 360 games?

No. New Wii games are $60. At least they are here and on the websites of the retailers.

There are crappy PS3 and 360 games also, should they have their prices lowered too?

Are you sure? TMNT Smash-Up and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 just came out for the Wii, and they're only $50 at Best Buy.

There are crappy games on all systems. I am talking about the games across all three consoles. The developers have to get rid of a lot of stuff so that it will work on a Wii. That means that compared to the games on the PS3 and 360, the Wii game has less. It has less story, worse graphics, worse audio, etc...when compared to its counterparts. So, that means that the quality of that game is less than its counterparts. Therefore, the games should not be the same price.

Beatles Rock Band and GH5 are $60. Sometimes Best Buy has deals on new games. I got Arkham Asylum for the 360 for only $50 as a new release because it came with a $10 gift card.

Again, I don't go look at the Wii games aisle so I may be wrong but I have seen $60 Wii games is what I am getting at...when they shouldn't be $60 imo.

The $50 price for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 isn't a deal. It's just $10 cheaper than its 360 and PS3 counterparts. It's the same with sport games like Madden 10 or NBA 2K10. The Wii versions are listed $10 less on the websites I check.

It just so happens that EA and Activision are a little evil, and realized they could gouge Wii owners a little.

Way to be, Hype server.

Some new games for the PS3 and 360 are cheeper than others and the cheep ones are normally the ones that aren't AAA class games.

I know that's where they make their money, that's where all consoles make their money, software and accesories. However, after a time they should release a "greatest hits" version, like both 360 and PS3 do and GameCube did. It'll be what 3 years soon since Mario Galaxy was released, maybe drop it down to $20-30

As for $60 Wii games, chaseter I think you're shopping at the wrong stores, I've never seen a Wii game over $50 unless it had something extra. Plus, since Wii's hardware isn't quite up to 360 and PS3 standards the teams have to develop the game basically from the start with Wii in mind, they can't just port it over, only thing they don't need to spend more on is the story, so the $50 price tag isn't quite that outrageous.

I don't own a Wii so I don't dig through the games to look at prices or compare across stores. The only time I notice it is when they have them up front in a display thingy. The other day I saw that Wii Rockband and GH were $60 and the same was on bestbuy.com.

I bought an elite Saturday for $299 and you can get a $50 mail in rebate off of the xbox Live dashboard so it was $249. That is very, very good. Only a $50 difference between an Elite and a Wii.

You had to have mistaken the 360 and PS3 prices for the Wii prices. However, when it comes to Rock Band or Guitar Hero, the platform doesn't make too much of a difference since graphics or story aren't really a big part of the game. The only thing that would suck about getting the Wii version is no ability to download songs.

To this day, I have no idea what the graphics in the Rock Band and Guitar Hero games look like. I don't think anyone knows. Everyone is too busy checking which buttons to press.

You play a real instrument, don't you? Most people I know who hate those games can actually play an instrument, while the rest of us enjoy the fantasy of pretending we know how to play "Sweet Child O Mine."

When does Violin Hero come out, is what I want to know.

Let's not forget the sequels, Violin Hero: Vanessa Mae and Violin Hero: Bond.

What? I like a hot chick with a violin.

^those games are AWFUL
Yes they are awful games. GH and RB, like the Wii, are fun for a while. Then, they get old and you move on. Plus, the fact that Activision comes out with like 3 GH games a year, I won't support them anymore. It is also way too much money to download a lot of your favorite songs and too much money to buy the peripherals for the game. Activision also pissed me off when I bought GH4, my drums were broken, and they told me that I would have to pay to send it in and pay to get it back through UPS or USPS even though they made a defective product. Ridiculous.

nope... these games are dumb though... I'll keep a beat to my favorite song with my hand... not with a 120 game, so I can hit colored buttons in synch with the TV..

these games will be a joke in 10 years

remember when people spent hundreds of dollars on a game, that played music, most of which they didn't like, and had them hit button on a guitar shaped controller in synch with the TV....
