I haven't seen a post for this it seems kind of interesting and stupid. I'm kind of looking forward to the Wolverine and Punisher fighting Predator-X thats a kinda funny idea. Also using some New Mutants like Cannonball for a story is pretty cool hopefully its a good story. what do you guys think? and how many issues do you think this'll last it'd be a surprise to me if something like this got past 20 issues, but a good surprise.

25 issues at best, just like Marvel Team-Up.

More like 12 at best, just like Marvel Comics Presents. This is another anthology series, which means it'll tank pretty quick. In fact, I doubt it'll even make it to 12, since I suspect MCP only made it that far because it had ongoing storylines throughout all 12 issues.

That said, I'm totally gonna get Astonishing Tales because I, unlike the vast majority of the mainstream comic readership, am a sucker for anthology series. I love the crap out of 'em.

I'm only getting the issues with the Punisher. But I give it 12 issues max.

And that's part of why anthologies don't work. I don't think there are very many fans of the whole Marvel universe anymore. People pick and choose their characters and tend to stick only to those characters.

Agreed. But i think a lot of that has to do with finances these days.

I'd agree, except that every anthology series in the last decade or so has crashed and burned pretty spectacularly, even when the economy was in decent shape. There are probably a lot of factors, the biggest of which, I would think, are reader disinterest, the fact that they often have less experienced or just plain crappy creators attached, and cost.
