This is a billboard about to go up in a couple of places around Dallas. Sounds fun. I can't wait for people to complain.

Here's a news segment from CBS 11 in DFW.

Thoughts?

They have that one in South Carolina already, almost six months now. Yeah, there were a few complaints, not many.

Well this is freedom of speech: I'm sure there have been many religious advertising in the past so if there are complaints, they should know what they're actually complaining about.

News segments around the country!

Great stuff!

Sad Christmas. :(

Am I the only one who remembers the black and white billboards with God asking you religious things?

Doesn't come to mind, Drak.

Here's a dude that was very happy to have the billboard before they ripped it down.

They said some stuff like:

"Loved the wedding. Invite me to the marriage." -God
"Don't make me come down there." -God
"Keep using my name in vain and I'll make your rush hour longer' -God"
"Wherever you go, there I am." -God
"I don't question your existence."
"Have you read my #1 bestseller?" -God
"I'm also making a list and checking it twice." -God
"If we don't communicate, you haven't got a prayer." -God

I like the message, but I don't like billboards. :/

I disagree with the message but they have a right to do so.

What about the message do you disagree with? Atheists are alone? There is just one atheist in the DFW area?

Explain yourself!

:D

It's not comparable.
The "Imagine no Religion" sighn is an attack on religous people, impliying that religion is evil.
However the Texas sighn is simply the work of atheists looking to band together.

There was one in Alabama that said, "Go to church, or the devil will get you."

thing is, religion is not evil itself, the problem comes when religous people use it to justify their not so religious actions

and again, why would someone be offended by a question?

They're all over my area: Central/North Georgia.

The best one, in my opinion, is a yellow sign, with black lettering spelling "JESUS."

My brother asked me if the sign was making a statement or using the Lord's name in vain.

I still have no clue.

Sorry, I should've specified that I disagree with their beliefs but they have a right to free speech.

I Never said that I beleive that religion is evil.
What I was saying is that is what that sighn implies.

I don't really see why anyone should be offended by the billboard. Those ones they had on the buses in the UK that were saying "There's probably not a god, so relax and enjoy life!" could be considered offensive by some people, but honestly, there's plenty of billboards in the world for everyone to have their viewpoint expressed. I don't feel like my beliefs are threatened every time I see a billboard or bumper sticker that's pushing a worldview that I do not agree with.

Do atheists really need a help group though? What do they talk about exactely?

Hey I didn't go to church/mass/temple/etc last week.
Me either.
So...
Yeah, so....

I mean you don't believe in a higher power, that's cool, but do you really have to talk about not believing in something? What's to explain?

I love it! LOL This was on their main page:

Am I an Atheist??

The simplest definition of an atheist is "one who lacks belief in gods." If you're just not buying into this religion thing, then you're one of us and you may as well come see us this Wednesday and have a beer with the group. We'll see you at Gilligan's at 6:30.

Good enough for me! Any excuse to go drink a beer and just hang out! :D They also had a picture of the Flying Spaghetti Monster up there as well. Sweet.

Seems kind of pointless to spend money advertising not believing in something.

It's pointless to find like minded people? It's pointless to organize to insure that a minority's rights aren't being violated?

I don't get this attitude of "They don't believe in anything! Why should they organize?".

Sounds like spin.

Atheists are now an organized religion. It is hilarious that some are now doing what they thought was stupid. They will start meeting weekly, monthly, etc...at a meeting place, they will start handing out pamphlets, and they will start preaching the word of no god.
