Audio Interview with J. Allard! (Xbox Related: not Zune)

I'm glad he made mention of all the people showing their genitals across Uno's video chat.

I'm starting to think nobody cares about intelligent interviews... :(

I listened halfway through, then I accidentally hit the close button. I'm not gonna search for where I left off :o

I'd rather hear an interview about the new Zune software the pretty much completely ruined the thing.

I hadn't heard about that. What did it do?

1. No way to turn off autosync. If you delete a song from your library, there's no way to stop it from deleting it from your Zune. Goes the other way too, if you add something to your library, there's no way to get it not to go to your Zune. Well, there are buttons to turn it off, but they dont work.

2. It only shows artists that you have albums cataloged under when you're looking at your device in it. Which means if you want to rip a single song back to your computer, and that's the only song by the artist, and you dont have full album info for it, you have to look through it in the song list.

3. And good luck with that, because it doesnt show all the songs. I'm missing a handful of them on there, even though they're still on my Zune.

4. It deletes and changes around album art randomly.

5. No way to change album or artist info after it autofinds it. No way to turn off updating this information automatically...well there is, but again, it doesnt work.

6. Even if you enter the album and artist info yourself, or it cant find it, you cant drag and drop it into another album or artist like you used to be able to. You have to go to Windows Explorer and change them all manually there to get it to go, and that doesnt even work half the time.

Seriously, they took simple, user friendly software that did everything anyone needed (true, not everything everyone wanted, like useless s**t such as wireless sync, which they now added), and worked great, and they turned it into a broken, buggy, rushed software that's nearly unuseable.

I spent two ****ing hours fixing my albums because it threw songs and artists all over the place.

I was never able to figure out how to organize my Zune. I never really gave it an honest shot, but I couldn't imagine it getting any more jumbled. :csad:

It was damn easy before...same as if you organized your WMP library...and it's not jumbled, it simply doesnt work...if all the features worked, as opposed to none of the features working, it would be fine...but they dont, and it's not.

I would organize everything neatly on my PC, but then when it transferred to the Zune, it was a cluster****. :csad:

I never had that happen...always came out just as it was on my computere.

The worst thing about this is, MS has replied to the Zune forum on the issues, essentially saying "We meant for this product to be used a certain way, and if you dont use it in that way, you can go f**k yourself cause we're not fixing anything"

That's pretty un-Microsoft of them. Usually they're very appreciative of feedback. Maybe they're just hyper-defensive over DRM. :csad:

At first people on the forums were being really nice about it too. Just reporting bugs as they got them, hoping for some word about a fix. Then MS, specifically "Andy" who is one of the guys who goes to the forums to see that kind of thing, started posting those replies about it not being meant for stuff, and people have just gotten more and more hostile about it...

If Microsoft is adamant about getting the Zune to a place where people will prefer using it to the iPod, they should at least listen to the people who are buying it in the first place. :(

Agreed...I already preffered it to the Ipod...if they made a way for the new firmware to work with the old software, I'd be find again.

I really hate iTunes. Piece of crap software. The only thing wrong with the iPod hardware is the whole battery situation.

Speaking of battery, that's one thing this update actually improved...longer battery life...like I said, the Firmware update was absolutely delicious....stupid software just took it down...

Going by my past experience with the Zune, I think I won't even notice the software update. My music was always unorganized and would sync to my PC no matter what. (Recharging the battery required PC-hookup, which then synced the music.)
