I've recently heard about this Avast program and have been thinking of downloading it. McAfee hasn't been doing so good for my computer and I figured I'd give it a shot since I've heard a lot of positive things about it. Do any of you guys use it? And if so, would you recommend it? Is it better than McAfee?

I use Avast and love it. it updates automatically. it's free and it will alert you of anything it deems as bad. I have it installed on all of my computers. McAfee and Symantec are resource hogs

I have Trend Micro internet security on my windows partitions mostly because I got it free through my school. Though I have heard wonderful things about Avast and would probably use it if the U didn't hook me up.

On my Linux partitions I use nothing as of now. What do you guys think of running anti-virus on Ubuntu? needed? un-needed? I've been hearing both really.

I am not a linux guy...but I would suggest Clam AV for linux

Thanks for the suggestion Malice, I'll look into it.

McAfee has been missing things on my computer so I use Avast! and Spybot too.
