I have McAfee Personal Firewall Express, and I don't know how long I have had it, but my guess would be four years (since 2004). There have been no problems before, except for one thing (which I will get into), until a problem surfaced today.

As of right now, the problem with my firewall goes like this: if I go on the Internet, or Firefox (AOL is lucky since this doesn'tr happen when I'm on that) a message pops up saying saying that my avast! Web Scanner has changed and wants access. This is not a problem, so I click yes. But, the message gets popped up again, and its the same thing: avast!. And it has been popping up over and over and over again since dismorning.

I don't know what to do. I don't know whether to uninstal and then reinstall firewall express, or do something in its folder, or even upgrade to Personal Firewall Plus (only if its free). This is really bugging me and I need help quick and fast.

So could someone help me on this.

P.S. the other thing that isn't literally a problem but a concern that I might as well ask, even though it could be more of a computer problem than a firewall problem, is that when my computer starts up and my desktop and programs load, if I do anything when it does that, my firewall will pop up and say that it "couldn't access my shared memory" and thus won't work anymore. Is that a problem at all?

Please help, thanks.

Uninstall it and reinstall it, or install another one.
Since its 4 years old, you need to upgrade it. Those older ones have known holes that can be exploited.

Well where could I find the one I have, or which of the newer ones would be for the best to have instead?

Link to McAfee or AVG, please.

How good is AVG?
