Look, I'll admit, the 3-D craze has gotten out of hand. I get you!

And I know some of you are upset that Marvel Studios made the decision to convert Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers in 3-D because you probably feel that they are either: A) cashing in on a recent craze, B) You don't want to pay extra for a 3-D movie or C) Both.

But anwser me this: Am I the only one who thinks that the idea of a superhero movie in 3-D is super-cool?

If it's filmed in 3D I'll see it, if it isn't I'll stick to the 2D release.

Pass. I'm gonna watch it in 2D. 3D is for the brainless...

Spider-Man might be the only Marvel film that is made for 3D. Or possibly Deadpool, because at least he could break the fourth wall and give people their money's worth with gratuitous shots at the camera.

I like the way you think.

I think I'll go 2D unless something really makes me think wearing those irritating glasses is worth it.

I made the mistake of paying to see Alice in Wonderland, and that was the end of the 3D fad for me. I saw the Toy Story Double Feature and A Christmas Carol last year and they were both worth the money, so I think animated movies are the best way to go for now when it comes to 3D. I will however see Saw and Jackass 3D, only because I've seen all of those movies in the theater and I need to see these (tentatively) final entries in the third dimension.

If the movie is filmed in 3D, I'll go out of my way to see it.

But if it's not, pass.

I'll be seeing Thor and Cap in 2D.

I could care less about 3-D, so long as they don't throw anything at me. My only fear for Spidey is that they'll want to make intense shots meant only for 3-D. So long as it's not like that, and that it's perfectly viewable in 2-D, I'm happy. Yeah, 3-D has gotten way out of hand, but I could care less as long as they don't throw stuff at the audience.

3D is still a BS fad, an excuse to charge more money to idiots. Even in Avatar, the technology isn't NEARLY as immersive yet enough to warrant it. I'll be watching this film in 2D.

I don't see movies in the theater that often so I don't have a problem shelling out some extra dollars for some added spectacle to the movies I do see. I can see how it can be a pain to someone who sees films every week or so though. And I also won't bother to see this film unless it's shot in 3D.

^ But it is a problem when 3D makes the visuals considerably darker, and thus worse.

Well movies that are shot in 3D are usually brighter to compensate for that. It's the conversion films that are already dark and murky that really create a problem.

I'll see Avengers in 3-D if it is gone right, that's all.

they use silver screens to improve brightness and your eyes should adjust so everything is as relatively bright as it would normally be. some cinemas are just bad though and mess things up. i saw ironman 2 with the bottom of the screen blurred for example.

the problem with 3D is too many are jumping on the gimmicky in your face style rather than just being a more realistic look through a window into a world. gimmicky 3D has it's time and place for B movies but when there are more B movies than A movies people start thinking 3D is inherently bad.

i've yet to see a good conversion but i hope with planning of camera moves with 3D in mind, and enough time in post Thor and Cap can be good conversions.

if a film is shot in 3D then i hope the bulky cameras don't make making the filming too difficult or even have people having to rework a sequence because the sequence wasn't possible with the equipment.

with all that said good 3D is inherently better than 2D. i've thought as much since i first used a View-Master over two decades ago.

This attitude is far more annoying than the 3D craze itself.

You are such a snob.

This.

3D when used right is a great innovation that can enhance the viewing experience for a film.
