B-b-but Certain People said that the PS3 would only be a medicore DVD/Blu-Ray player!

...........................You... have to be taking that out of context somehow...

lololololololololol :O

But seriously, does anyone on the face of the earth really care about this Blu-ray/HD-DVD nonsense anymore? By the time a good number of people have HD-TVs, we'll probably be able to just stick HD footage onto a DVD anyways.

So if I'm reading it right if your HD TV doesn't support 720P then 1080i will be downgraded to 480P.

Firmware better fix that asap.

So is that something that can be fixed with firmware? (I'm not much of a tech guy...obviously) If it is, then yes, Sony needs to fix this. It doesn't affect me, but I do know some people it will affect.

Yeah, display options can be changed by firmware update... Just like MICROSOFT recently added 1080p support for the X360 in a recent update.

Ok, well it's good to know that it can be fixed somewhat esaily then. The next question is will Sony actually fix it? Hopefully they will. They were able to change the whole HDMI only fiasco thing earlier so this shouldn't be a problem for them.
