When Chris Bachalo first started penciling Uncanny X-Men, back then on issue 353, he drew Rogue with her original green and white costume. He then went out of his way to establish that as her costume in 356. When he drew last year's 10 year AOA anniversary limited, he desgined a very similar looking outfit. Now, that he's going to be penciling X-Men, he has created yet another similar costume for Rogue. What is it with him and that costume?? Why the obsession with it??? I'd like to know...

Because he doesn't have an original thought in his head, and has to ram the things he does like down our throats, despite having no real logic behind them.

This is the same suit that's appeared in recent solicitations, right? The one that looks like she's early for X-mas? I really hate that one. I didn't mind it being in AoA but if I have to put up with it all the time then I'm going to be sick.

I always liked the one she wore in the 90's cartoon. That or the recent version of that where she had a trenchcoat. I'd even rate her X-treme costume over that.

Hey, I'll take that costume over the white trash, tattoed looking non-costume she wore in Xtreme.

Admittedly that part of X-treme was worse. Not just in design but I hated the art at that stage.

What? Bachalo is one of the most insanely inventive artists out there. Love him or hate him, there's no denying he's creative.

I guess he's just a fan of the costume. With the exception of the cape, I've always liked it also...especially how there's a hood included to emphasize the fact that she needs to keep her skin covered...so with that said, I'm not mad. Now if only they'd get rid of these fire powers she has...if there was ever a power that doesn't look right on someone, it's these and Rogue.

ETA - Does the new costume even have the hood or did they replace it with that cape?

I do like the costume, I'm not saying it's a bad costume, in fact, I love the way he draws it. But why always the same???? Why not some variants of her Jim Lee costume, or the great Shi'ar one??

Mmmmmm the great Shi'ar one....I loved that one, but it has no practicality. They wore those suits in space, when they came back, they stopped wearing them. They are now in limbo. I think Penance is wearing it.

Bachalo uses it because its her best one..

I reckon hes trying to establish it in a similar way to Wolvies blue and yellows.

I 'd just like them mayb to change the color from green to match her new powers also something more feminine would be hot. no need to got to the obvious fire color but what about black and white or something with a skirt on it and heeled boots like the outback days while he's at it a sexier hair doo.:o

I like his style a lot. Its very unique. But he has big flaws, he cant script a clear action sequence, he has trouble telling a story visually, important stuff seems to happen off panel or in small corners, and his art during an action sequence is wayyy too busy. I think someone compared his big action pieces to "wheres Waldo".

It has both. I've never been a fan of the costume myself. I think it's because I hate the white in it. I've always thought Rogue's best costume was the green and black from the Australia days not this one. I do like the hood but that's about it. More, it's just repetative. We've seen it already -do something new. He's put Mystique back into the stupid white slit dress too. Terribly unpractical and the black pants made way more sense. Then he's kept the really cruddy Cannonball look he gave him. Overall I'm just not a fan of his. All the women's faces look similar and like little girls while the men (shudder). And as stated his storytelling abilities leave a lot to be desired. He could easily be the deciding factor for me dropping X-Men unless it's really really a great story given my lack of interest in most of the team characters.
