Those cars...what a bummer. What a drag.
Anyway, I have nightmare neighbor stories, too. Please excuse the length of this post, but I couldn't help myself.
In my apartment building, I used to have a neighbor on the floor below who played EXTREEEEEEMELY loud music all the time. Nothing that anyone said or did would stop her. If I went to her door to ask her tone it down, she would scream and yell at me forever, not letting me get a word in edgewise. She would make an issue out of the fact that she paid rent. Now, not only was this person extremely loud and extremely nasty, she was also extremely stupid. One day I slid a note under her door, asking her to turn down the music. Then I went out. I came back an hour later, and I saw that the note I'd left her was now sitting on the doormat outside the door. I realized what had happened was that she had found the note, read it, gotten angry, and slid it back out under the door. Where did she think that note was going to go? Into the Twilight Zone? Back into my hand? I wonder what ran through her head the next time she opened the door and found the note sitting there. What an idiot.
Eventually she moved out, but a few months later, people moved into the apartment next door to me with exactly the same problems--extreme volume, extreme nastiness, and extreme stupidity. I tried leaving notes under their door, asking them to turn down the music. It didn't work. Later I heard from the superintendent of the building that these neighbors had actually complained to him. The neighbors had gotten angry about the notes I'd left asking them to turn down the music, and they had gone to the super to complain about the notes. What kind of person does that? Eventually I tried going to the door to ask these people to turn it down, and I got screamed at just like with the other neighbor, including the part about paying rent. And then she accused me of harassment.
OK, so let me get this straight. You blast music, you won't let me sleep, you make it impossible for me to do my job (I work from home) and if I ask you to show some consideration, that's harassment? I see.
I see EXTREEEEEEEEME stupidity. EXTREEEEEEEEEME selfishness. And an EXTREEEEEEEEMELY screwed up sense of entitlement.
