Bad News Or What?

Doesnt matter to me when the episodes will air, as long as i know there will be more episodes.

To be honest, I'm not really surprised. I wish I was, but I'm not. Good cartoons are a thing from an age past, I fear. Nowadays, apparently, nobody wants awesome cartoons. They want mediocre ones, or even downright dumb.
Seriously, SSM was such a breath of fresh air. It was too good to be true. I am honsetly disappointed that SSM has met an untimely end, while the bland and mediocre Wolverine and the X-Men is getting renewed. I'm disappointed, but I'm not surprised. People are stupid and the suits are more stupid than most.

Is there any known reasons and explanations for this? As far as I knew, SSM was well-recieved, both rating and critically-wise.

I heard on these boards that Disney XD actually outbid CWkids (or whatever that network is/was/became), Cartoon Network, & Nicktoons. I would hate if this was all part of Disney's plan to acquire Marvel and to get all the properties away from other studios (note Sony is now out of the animated Spidey picture), so they can kill it and start anew.

Seriously, if they plan to cancel and they let it slip, something has to be done by the fanbase. Other shows came close to being canceled and were saved by the fanbase. I think that was the case with Chuck. Family Guy actually was canceled before it was brought back. So my question, who should we write to save this show?

And by the way, Spectacular Spider-Man is not one of the best adaptations of the character, it is THE best adaptation, in this opinion of this longtime fan (+35 years).

Agreed 110%!

If you ask me, I think it's very possible that we can bring this show back. The question is, how?

Well, if letters will help:

Marvel Studios
---------------
1600 Rosecrans Avenue
Building 7 - Suite 110
Manhattan Beach, CA 90266

Disney XD
---------------
3800 West Alameda Avenue
Burbank, CA 91505
^but I'm not 100% sure about this one. When I posted the address on GoogleMaps, it showed Disney ABC Networks Group.

well as i said we have no clue 100% where things stand. I am keeping hope the show will get more once we know for sure where disney stands with it. Really it would be so much easier to continue this show then making up another one down the road. Plus marvel would want to cash in on spider-man 4 craze for 2011.

Last I heard the ratings for the show were pretty good. It what's been said about the show is true, I it just shows that not even ratings matter.

gamersly that was posted earlier in this thread. But yea as i keep saying nothing is official to we have word from disney and marvel.

Yeah, well, sorry, but the news aren't exactly wonderful... At best, the show is on the chopping block and everything hangs by a thread, at worst it's already dead.

I somewhat agree with that, GamerSly. So much pessimism, and this mentality, as someone said above, that cartoons are crap these days.

I call nonsense on that. IMO, animation is at a real high point now. There are a lot worthwhile animated series out there. Sure, many of the 90's toons were great, but I'm not going to live just in the past if the present and future promise equal or greater value.

Well, who knows, there might be a lot of worthwile cartoons nowadays, but I actually have seen very few. Granted, it might be because I don't watch so many cartoons these days, but I think that the best is behind us. The only recent cartoons (that I've watched) that I'd label as great are The Spectacular Spider-Man, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Avatar: The Last Airbender. There are some others that are... okay, like Wolverine and the X-Men, but very few are really, really awesome.

There have been some good cartoons. But they're too few of them. The later seasons of X-Men Evolution were quite good and are better than Wolverine and the X-men imo. Justice League Unlimited was an excellent cartoon. That is an example of how all superhero cartoons should be. It was a show that wasnt dumbed down and didnt insult your intelligence and yet it was watchable for kids and adults. They snuck in lots of adult humor here and there too which the older viewers would appreciate. The new Ironman cartoon is just plain corny, and wolverine and the x-men...eh, its not bad per say but it doesnt touch the 90's x-men cartoon.

Yeah, I forgot to include Justice League Unlimited and X-Men: Evolution. Both were good stuff, but still, the awesome shows are few and far between these days.

Even if Disney decides to cancel the show, if enough fans react with their wallets when Season 2 comes out on DVD, they may just change their minds. It happened with Family Guy.
I'd also encourage flooding Disney with e-mail demands to save the show.

That's what i plan on doing.

I own every Spectacular Spider-Man DVD including the complete first season, and I plan on doing the same for season 2.

The show WILL NOT be canceled,:argh: I REFUSE to believe that,:o DO YOU HERE ME PEOPLE,:ikyn IT WILL NOT HAPPEN, why, BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT!!!:D

Yea as i said i am keeping an optimistic mind out there and hoping things will be good once we get the last few episodes aired. How many are left?

Good news is they show Opening Night AND Final Curtain on the Fourteenth. That saves us a week and those two episodes MAY garuntee us a 3rd and possibly a 4th and 5th season. If they don't renew this show after Final Curtain; SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THEM!! I have to admit I hated the Goblin with that stupid ELF hat, but this incarnation is by far my most favorite villian next Doc Ock and Venom

totally the show is great on all things, story, action, voice work, nice fluid animation(i know the style isnt that loved by some but it was there for it to be done cheaper and have fast movement). Hopefully we will know within a few days/1-3 weeks after the finale airs were disney stands. Though we all know even if it does get picked up for more we will be waiting to late next year probably for season to even air.

^ I think the designs have a tendency to be overly-simplistic, sometimes to the point of making it look like a low-budget series from Discovery Kids, but that isn't always the case, and it's overall a good series.
