Comedy Barbie: The Movie

This movie might not have been made for me, but that definitely didn't stop me from really enjoying it either because honestly, I had a complete blast with it from beginning to end.

Major props to Greta Gerwig, Warner Bros and Mattel for actually allowing an ambitious/ballsy flick like this to get made nowadays in the form of a mainstream, big budget, summer blockbuster.

This thing is going to make a ton of money over the course of its run because its such a crowd-pleaser not to mention its one of the most visually stunning films I've seen in a while.

Loved the costume and production design in this and while Margot Robbie is fantastic and was born to play this iconic role, I was really surprised by how much I loved Gosling in this as Ken.

I've always been a fan of the guy, but he really shows his movie star potential in this and he definitely deserves to be a much bigger star than he is and I'd say the same about Margot as well.

Also, I thought Michael Cera was lowkey hilarious in this lol.

Just saw it, had a really good time with this. I felt some of it though was SUPER heavy handed and little over the top. But i imagine that was deliberate and part of the point. But occasionally the heavy handedness took me out of the movie.

But over all a very solid effort for Greta Gerwig. I’m glad this movie is exploding at the box office.

It should help push Gerwig, Robbie and Gosling even higher up the Hollywood ranks.

I got not even two minutes into The Critical Drinker's review of this before i turned it off, i cannot believe someone could watch this movie and see this as being spiteful and hateful towards men. The comments section of that review was even more shocking that so many people agreed with that stance. Did these people WATCH the movie?

Its got an A cinemascore. Its gonna be competing with Mario for top film if the year easily.
I wasn’t sure what its legs would be like but this can only help. Word of mouth amongst general audiences seems like it’s going to be great and the film is quite unique amongst what’s out there.

Makes it that much better that it’s doing as good as it’s doing.

This movie was such a fun time. As I suspected, it felt like The Lego Movie if it skewed a little more adult. The writing was brilliant with its biting social commentary, as was the outstanding production design and costumes, and of course, the performances. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling absolutely killed it. Gosling has never been funnier and am I going too far in saying that this might be Margot Robbie's best role, even moreso than Harley Quinn or Tonya Harding? The supporting cast was great too, and this was the best Will Ferrell has been in years.

That is nearly word for word what I was going to say.
I loved 95% of the movie and the other 5% was just a little, as you say, heavy handed, but not enough to affect my overall enjoyment of the movie.

I don't even consider myself a big musical fan at all outside of some of the classic stuff and some modern stuff like LA LA LAND, but I actually loved the musical numbers in this and honestly wish we got more of them.

The I'm Just Ken song is a straight banger and is easily one of biggest highlights of the movie for me. I'm pretty sure that song alone is going to become pretty iconic over time if it hasn't already.

Greta Gerwig absolutely slayed with the direction in this movie.

I have officially seen Barbenheimer (in that order).

Just got done watching it and it was SO GOOD. Best movie of the year.

I love the movie as a whole but if I could change one thing
Barbie decides that she can be everything and be part of Barbieland and the real world instead of just leaving Barbieland behind all together.

I noticed that they added in Warner Bros Discovery into a billboard seen outside when we're in the Mattel office.

While I am not expecting a sequel...IF there were one...Barbie: Invasion of the Bratz all i'm sayin..

Do people like that really watch anything? The only purpose art and entertainment have for them is an opportunity to revel in negativity. False outrage. They must be so bitter and so lonely.

It definitly cant be a fun life.
Like these people alone, but also those who consume their stuff.
It must get so boring at times because everyone with a camera or mic nowadays is doing content.
And that content is always the same.
It is so diluted that i dont get how people have the energy for it.

Instead of 10 people screaming "woke" in a rant video about Barbie, you got 50 of them and they all sound the same.

Its the one good thing, that because of this, grifters like Drinker dont make that much money anymore with this.
Sadly it also means the need to be more radical and that is not good because the easy to fool, mostly young males, get brainwashed hard by these crazier takes.

They can never enjoy anything in a vacuum. Even if it’s something that they “like” they have to make it political in order to keep up engagement.

Captain Marvel, a movie I didn’t care for, made a billion dollars and they still call it a flop.

Haha, it works. These idiots are only helping. People knew what their views would be ahead of time and it only adds comedy value to Barbie’s marketing.
