Comedy Barbie: The Movie

Hahaha its true! Almost every girl and woman I saw at the theater yesterday was decked out in pink. I love it when a film has this kind of impact on people.
Yeah, makes it much more fun to go OW when everyone’s getting in on the act.

Honestly opening the same day as Oppenheimer is the best thing that could have happened for both movies.
I hope at some point we get another pair of unlikely films that somehow get this synergy and audience investment as a double bill. It adds to both films and makes their debut feel like a bigger event than from one film alone.

I may or may not have been blasting the soundtrack in the car on my way to work this morning.

This was also your outfit when going to see it right? :cwink:

If those numbers hold (way above my expectations) then Barbie is exactly double Oppenheimer. (I can math :o :D)

Weekend actuals are up, $162,022,044 for Barbie.

Early estimates for Monday look to be around $30 million. If that Monday number is close that's a crazy good hold.

The Sunday's really good and that would be insane for Monday if so. This thing is opening huge and looking like holding huge too.

Been saying it for months, hopefully Gunn has already approached Greta Gerwig. :SG:
I hope she stays away. Comic book films are a 10 year commitment if the first one is a hit. She needs to continue making her own movies without they don’t need to fit into some big picture.

She's already doing Narnia and said she'd be interested in one. Comic book movies aren't the problem. Bad ones are lol but I get where samsnee is coming from

& I only say that bc she's offering her talents up for the studio director gigs, which is cool. I'd still like to see her do some smaller stuff again at some point, but if she can handle the worldbuilding and craft like she did w Barbie while still balancing sound character arcs as well as a solid story, she could do whatever really

It'd be pretty cool to see if she could pull a Spielberg one day and release a heavy ass drama and a knockout blockbuster in the same year. Also wanna see her direct a leading man (Gosling was pretty great, but support). Idk if that's weird to say lol
