Comedy Barbie: The Movie

I hope she stays away. Comic book films are a 10 year commitment if the first one is a hit. She needs to continue making her own movies without they don’t need to fit into some big picture.

You think WB and Mattel aren't already throwing money at her for a Barbie 2?

Well, maybe not WB, given how they treated Jenkens.

Comes down to how gunn/safran run their place.
Marvel maybe, but DC we will have to see.
She will have a lot leverage and could maybe get what she wanted instead of the Studio.

But isnt she doing Narnia next, couldnt that be quite the commitment too if hers is a success?

Lot of options here.

She's already doing Narnia and said she'd be interested in one. Comic book movies aren't the problem. Bad ones are lol but I get where samsnee is coming from

& I only say that bc she's offering her talents up for the studio director gigs, which is cool. I'd still like to see her do some smaller stuff again at some point, but if she can handle the worldbuilding and craft like she did w Barbie while still balancing sound character arcs as well as a solid story, she could do whatever really

It'd be pretty cool to see if she could pull a Spielberg one day and release a heavy ass drama and a knockout blockbuster in the same year. Also wanna see her direct a leading man (Gosling was pretty great, but support). Idk if that's weird to say lol
In a different life, she would have been stuck doing that How I Met Your Mother spin-off (not the current one but the one she was the star of) and not be using her directing talents. She dodged a bullet with that one.

Looks like $30m Monday was a little optimistic, but $27.5 is still amazing. Just a 38% drop from Sunday which was already a ridiculously good hold.

Maybe a little less crazy, but still crazy nonetheless. It’s going to hold super-well despite opening so much better than expected.

Yeah, the key thing is whether she herself would find that interesting and get something out of doing it. If not cool, if so very cool. :D

fun fact if you google Barbie or Barbie movie the screen goes light pink and the GOOGLE at the top left turns dark pink along with the click on text and you get pink sparkles show up all over the screen kinda silly but fun.

Haha, nice, just tried it. I do like when google does themed stuff like this just to add in some simple fun.

Definitely fun to watch the boxoffice numbers for Barbie, especially after so many disappointments and outright bombs recently.

Early Tuesday estimates have Barbie at $24m. It appears there are capacity issues, Barbie is getting a lot of sell outs today, but with the lower Tuesday ticket prices. The demand is there, but there just aren't enough seats to increase from Monday.

Just some boxoffice musings.

Barbie passed The Flash entire domestic run in just 2 days and by tomorrow it will pass the combined total of The Flash and MI:7 in just 6 days.

I doubt anyone would have predicted that.:beaming:

I was planning on seeing it tonight, but my theater is packed. So, I passed. Turns out the theater is a popular place when you are seeing 90+ degree weather in a temperate climate.

These are huge weekday numbers. Feels like the hype is getting bigger and everyone wants to get involved now. Maybe we’re going to see a great weekend drop.

Per Charlie J, 33 OS/25 domestic MON/TUE for Barbie. Sweet.

The whole "Barbenheimer" phenomenon is fascinating. Has there ever been 2 competing movies from 2 different studios that have formed such a symbiotic relationship before?

These 2 movies have somehow become inextricably linked for some time now.
