Basic Human Needs... who needs them?!

I could do without sleep. It's 2:43 AM where I am, so I'm already on my way to ditching that basic human need.

Sleep is the one I would give, up. Think of all the extra time you'd have to get things done. Closely followed by sex, it ain't all it's cracked up to be.

I can't willingly eliminate anything.

*I can't not breathe.
*Food is too damn tasty to give up.
*My pee must look normal or I freak out so I gotta keep water.
*Regardless if I run on 3 hours of sleep these days, I need those 3 hours. Or I'll start to kill.
*Toxins need to exit, can't tell my body to stop.
*I've become accustomed to jeans and air conditioning, ain't gonna give them up.
*If more people got laid (in the consensual way), the world would be a lot less bat****. Wars and crankyness would be at a minimum, etc. It's a tremendous stress reliever. Sex isn't evil. gtfo, nutjobs. Have some sex for the good of mankind. (and wrap it up)

^I think you missed the part where this is hypothetical. You wouldn't have to hold your breath, your physiology would change so that you no longer need to do it.

First post has been edited for those who are oblivious to the obvious.

Now, certain enjoyment can be derived from all of these physiological needs but I HATE having to do them to live. I often wonder how nice it would be if I could eliminate one of these needs...

lmao is this a real thread?

oh well in that case i would give up eating in an instant. i snack here and there but i wouldnt miss it. maybe just walk around with a iv drip full of nutrients like Rihanna.

I don't think you get it either...

I have a love/hate with sleep. So if I could, 4 hours every 4-5 days and be fine, then yea.

Now sex....needs to be removed. Hate the feeling. Yes, I mean sex drive. Sheldon from big bang theory knows what I r talking bout.

if I no longer needed to breath.... could I live under water?

Depends on why you no longer need to breathe. If your physiology changed so that you could draw in oxygen through your skin or something, then yeah you could live underwater. You wouldn't be able to see once you got below a certain depth though.

i think i'd be ok with the no breathing thing if i could go underwater and stay there whenever i wanted etc

knowing me i'd probably volunteer as a rescue diver or try to find buried treasures and stuff at the bottom

Times where I have so many things I need to do but still need to set aside a few hours for sleep really makes me hate the need for it. Like now. I could be so productive... but nope, body tells me, "**** what you're doing, cuz I'm about to ruin... all that".

The possibilities of what I could do if I didn't have to sleep. The mind boggles.

It really would be awesome if food was the only thing we needed to "recharge" instead of the 6-10 hours of unconsciousness every night.

I'd imagine that if we didn't have to sleep in order to survive that we'd also be eating during the time we normally would sleep. Expenses and body weight would definitely need to adjust and with that... comes more time in the bathroom :down

Just about all the seven deadly sins are based on a psychological or physical need that eventually becomes destructive once it is enjoyed.

Basic sex drive becomes lust.

The need for nutrition becomes gluttony.

The need for rest become sloth.

The need for survival becomes greed.

The need for self-esteem becomes pride and envy.

The need for security becomes wrath.

Why do needs start becoming spiritually and physically destructive once we start to enjoy fulfilling them??? Seems like one big cosmic joke.

Spiritually destructive if you're applying the seven deadly sins to it, yes, but not everyone subscribes to those pamphlets.

Also, all things in moderation.

Excretion

Like Kim Jong Il?

That's what I was thinking. Like if we could get rid of sleep would that mean we wouldn't get tired anymore, or if we didn't need food would we no longer get hungry?

That's what I was thinking also. I'd give up sleep, I'd get more time to do things and I could meditate to rest the mind and not go insane.

Those of us smart enough to realize this would exercise to compensate. God, going to the gym 2-3 times a day would be glorious

I wish I could enjoy going to the gym vs just going for the results.

Eating. I'm a vegetarian, so most of the food I eat takes like s**t anyway. :o

Why not just stop being a vegetarian then?
