BB is the best comic book movie ever made - and the Dark Knight will sit either just below it or on the same level.

I´m sick and tired of this deceitful "thought police" argument. You know, what really annoys me is not people not liking the suit or the Batpod or whatever, it´s I see the same people from before basically recycling all the same arguments they used against Begins that were already proven wrong. A lot of people insisted Batman was going to look "robotic" in Begins. He didn´t, and yet they bring that argument back for the umpteenth time. People said the Tumbler was going to suck at chase scenes cuz it wasn´t a sleek sports car with fins, it didn´t and now they bring back all that crap again with the Batpod, it´s like listening to broken records.
So are you agreeing or disagreeing with me?

I´m saying that the critics can be just as or more intolerant to difference of opinion as some of the "Nolan sheep". Just don´t pretend it´s only one way and I´m fine with you.

Gotcha

For the record, I state my opinion, but I never bash anyone for theirs.

Well, except for this one dude who dressed up like the Surfer for the FF2 midnight showing. Something had to be said

I've not really seen him in anything. Why couldn't they darken his hair a little? Takes 5 minutes.

I have no problem with him being Blond

What's wrong with Eckhart?

Nothing specifically...he just gives me the "that's the best they could do?" feeling. I wanted Leonardo DiCaprio. Harvey Dent is an extraordiarily complex role. I don't see Eckhart doing much with it.

Fair enough. I dunno, I liked his casting from the get go. I definitely think he has the chops to pull it off - he showed a glimpse of the duality that is needed in his role in The Black Dahlia.
Leo is great, I have to admit, and getting better. Matt Damon was offered the role originally, remember?

I myself wouldn´t have DiCaprio as my first choice. Nothing against him, but Dent has a much more masculine and mature look. DiCaprio still has much of the boyish look.

Yar

They could always ask Tommy Lee Jones

oh wait.............

DiCaprio looks
A) like Sale Dent (I loves me Sale Dent)
B) like a driven guy (Dent = Driven)
C) kinda like he's out of his element in Batman (Especially if Dent is transferred to Gotham)

and he's a great actor...able to pull off the nuances that make Dent such a great character.

Oh, do I.... :csad:

Agreed, but Leo's acting chops are just amazing, he can pull off anything. I'd be willing to sacrifice a bit of the looks.

As far as I'm concerned, the only thing Eckhart has going for him is that his head is shaped like a toaster.

Funny, maybe it´s me, but I myself never got a "DiCaprio vibe" from Sale´s Dent.

I find Eckhart a terrific actor. I felt that in Thank You For Smoking he showed all the chops.

Yeah, I really can't take Leo as an authority figure. He'll always be a kid to me. And I think Eckhart is really something, I loved Thank You For Smoking a hell of a lot.

I didn't really. In Thank You For Smoking, he played a very external character...to me, Dent is very much INternal. Subtle even. In TYFS, I though he played his normal over-the-top bad guy, but the twist was he wasn't actually bad.

I guess I'm reading the character differently...but to me Dent is "technically" an authority figure...he's D.A. Yeah. But nobody in Gotham really respects him. The Crime Bosses step all over the justice system, etc. It's his drive and commitment that makes him successful...and that turns him into Two Face.

I don't think he was even bad. The entire movie was a morally gray area about the wheeling and dealing that occurs in the circus of the media and politics. He was just exceptionally good at a job in a world that demanded, if not enforced, moral ambiguity, and he wound up questioning this ambiguity.

Yeah, he was pretty "external." He played a likable, extroverted person whose viewpoints, no matter how twisted, you wound up appreciating, even on a despicable level. I don't know how they'll play Dent - there's been a whole lot of alterations to his character in the comics and all the other non-canon.

I know he can play an earnest politician, though. I know that for sure.

He never felt to me like an over-the-top bad guy, but as a person who decided that the best survival strategy was cynicism. He IS a very external character in the sense that the character constantly builds an image that he wants to project to people, but he has an internal side that´s what he manifests in his concern for his son and stuff. I saw the deleted scenes for the movie and in fact you see more of him concerned about his son and smoking, which was something I missed a little in the theatrical cut.

Dent isn't just an "Earnest Politician," though.
