I like nolan's vision more than burton's from far.For me, it's closer to the comic's spirit, and that's the batman I like. He doesn't kill intentonaly, he's scary, we get to see how batman become more ad more importan than bruce wayne, he really knows how o fight, it's epic, emotional, ever character is well written... Let se gordon: with Nolan, he's as important as in the comic. With burton, he's nothing else than, a clown.

But I still, I found burton's movies quite enjoyable. They are well shot, very imaginative, but it's not really batman for me. He managed to make arke super heroesmovie, ad that's a very important step. If i had to put the blame on someone, it would be Sam Hamm. He should kowbats better thn what he wrote.:brucebat: Also, Keaton is like a mummy. I never understood the hype about him.

This is a masterpiece against a masterpiee. Not only I can't decide but I don't want to.

So many things I prefer from B89 over TDK.

1) Movie - Batman '89
* though DK might be the better movie, I still can't get past that feeling I had seeing Batman on the big screen for the first time when I was a kid.

2) Director - Tim Burton
* I like Burton's vision better even though I think he might be a one trick pony in other movies

3) Batman - Michael Keaton
*Bale looked more the part but Keaton pulled that dual personality thing better...plus he has crazy eyes..lol

4) Joker - Heath Ledger
* Tricky one, I didn't like Jack's mob boss version of the Joker plus Ledger looked more the part. But (and here's where I get flamed) I don't think Ledger lived up to the hype after I saw the movie. He was good, but I personally think DeVito did better with the version of the Penguin given to him than Ledger did with his Joker. I just don't think Ledger was the be all and end all of Jokerdom.

5) Sound Track - Danny Elfman
* See #1

6) Woman friend - Kim Basinger
* Maggie was the better actress but Basinger was easier on the eyes.

7) Alfred - Michael Gough
* Hard to explain Caine kinda comes off alittle more rough and unrefined than Gough did if that makes any sense.

Movie - The Dark Knight

Director - Nolan - The Prestige, Momento, Begins.. all his others.. just ridiculous talent. Tim Burton is outstanding aswell

Batman - Michael Keaton - Keatons just a badass in general, plus he's from pittsburgh, my hometown.

Joker - Heath Ledger - good ole uncle joker, or the grungy maniac down the alley. I prefer my joker frightening.

Sound Track - Tie. The soundtracks Give me Equal amounts of goosebumps lol.

Woman friend - Kim Basinger - Yes,she is easier on the eyes.

Alfred - Michael Caine - A great Alfred, Funny and charming.

Movie - The Dark Knight......but I still have a place in my heart for Batman '89, grew up on that classic flick.

Director - Christopher Nolan, what he brought to the Batman series is exactly what I wanted.

Batman - Christian Bale

Joker - Heath Ledger.....while Jack is a legend, Heath's Joker is legendary.

Sound Track - Hans Zimmer/James Newton Howard, but barely.

Woman friend - Kim Basinger

Alfred - http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?p=17265254#Michael Caine

1) The Dark Knight
Probably better than B89, if not for the plotting being a major factor. The middle act of B89 is a bit muffled, whereas TDK never loses momentum. Still, B89 follows through closely, and its still the classic superhero story, second only to STM in that regard.

2) Tim Burton
Burton's vision of just about everything, I find more preferable. I love Nolan's style as well, but Burton's vision is what drew me to the movies to begin with. And its so much more gothic, too. Retro-dark rules!

3) Michael Keaton
Bale's great as well, but he's too self-aware to pick as a favorite or as best. Plus, Keaton's Batman voice is better than Bale's constant coughing-esque voice. And he's more genuinely intimidating.

4) Heath Ledger
Up until 2008, Jack Nicholson gave the best superhero villain performance in a superhero movie... Until Ledger, who not only met expectations, he exceeded them. I love both Jokers, but Ledger's scarier, more sinister and deadlier. A powerhouse performance that deserved the attention it got.

5) Danny Elfman
While TDK's score is a vast, vast improvement over BEGINS, its still way behind Elfman's quick brilliance. Simple yet effective, B89's score is as synonymous to Batman as John Williams's Superman Theme is synonymous to Superman. Dark, moody, heroic, absolutely epic, and undeniably classic.

6) Draw
Kim Basinger's part is written well, but Gylleenhaal acts hers better (yeah, I don't like Rachel).

7) Michael Gough
Always. I never liked the casting of Michael Caine (personally, Ben Kingsley would've been the best choice for the part), even though he's quite good in TDK. Gough's Alfred is both Wayne's loyal butler/partner, a figure of the past that hopes Wayne won't become the villains he fights, and a father figure who looks after him with care and respect.

movie:batman'89
director:tim burton
batman:michael keaton!bale and his crappy suit didn't impress me at all.
joker:jack nicholson, hands down.I think that while ledger was just plain scary, the joker must be both a comedian and a killer:nicholson nailed that IMHO.
soundtrack:elfman
woman friend:kim basinger
alfred:michael caine

Everything TDK. I like Nolan's vision better. Even though I love Tim Burton, IMO he seems to have a problem with big budget movies (Batman, Planet of the Apes, Chocolate Factory) in that his stories suffer and he doesn't get to put much creativity or any character in them. So I've always had a problem with his Batman movies, while they are enjoyable, I never feel compelled to watch them and there hardly seems to be any story or character to them. I always enjoy Tim Burton's smaller movies much more (Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Beetlejuice).

The Nostalgia Critic did a tale of the tape review like this.

The Dark Knight
Nolan
Bale
Ledger
Elfman
Basinger
Caine

Rachel Dawes annoys me and Elfman's score is superior, but TDK is better in every other category. Most of them by a large margin.

1) Movie -The Dark Knight
2) Director - Tim Burton
3) Batman - Michael Keaton (if we were talking about Bale in Batman Begins.. this might've been different)
4) Joker - Heath Ledger
5) Sound Track - Danny Elfman
6) Woman friend - Kim Basinger
7) Alfred - Michael Caine

1) Movie - Tie
2) Director - Tim Burton
3) Batman - Michael Keaton
4) Joker - Tie
5) Sound Track - Danny Elfman
6) Woman friend - Maggie Gyllenhaal
7) Alfred - Michael Caine

and the glaring omission of:
8) Batmobile - '89 model

The tumbler does have grunt, but the '89 model has always been a fave.

This isn't even a contest, everything in TDK is leagues better than Batman '89. (coming from someone who grew up watching the old Bat films)

I couldn't agree more. They're both excellent films.
